Former BDO/RSM/GT audit - when did you leave and for how much of a raise?

Left as an experienced manager for a CFO position. It wasn't as much for the raise as the equity.

Where I'm from in EU there is no difference between big 4 and 2nd tier salaries on average since the employment market has somewhat accepted to have relatively cheap salaries from big 4 as they invest more in your learning and they have good tech and so on. When I went from audit to accounting for an accounting company I took a 40% raise though. I was really hesitant about the company because they have high staff turnover but with that money i couldn't refuse. Am still there 1 year on, it's been tough to not resign but honestly the money is holding me here.

Probably not the answer you're looking for, but 3 of my friends left in 1-2 years for big 4. Raise was minimal but exit ops became much better.

Lol it’s funny you say that, I’m looking to jump to Big 4 right now 😂 I’m in tax though so a little bit different

For those of you senior enough to have a direct report — do you feel like you’re properly equipped to know when and how to champion your junior talent for a promotion/raise? I love my boss as a human but doubting how efficiently she can vouch for me to senior leadership given how she’s typically reluctant to have difficult conversations (she’s admitted to this). Do you think about this often in how it makes you a good/stronger boss?

Need some insight — I’ve been talking to a guy who is pretty cool and we vibe well. It’s still early stages so nothing serious, but sometimes I can’t tell if he’s being self-centered in conversation or just trying to impress me. What are some indicators I should be looking for and is there a good way I can raise this with him? For context, he definitely expresses interest in me and my opinions, but he’s often one driving the conversations and we end up mostly talking about topics he brings up.

I was so good and confident when I was interviewing with consulting firms. Now that I am here for something close to two months, I am really struggling. Struggling to piece together coherent questions and thoughts. Struggling to speak up. Team structure is weird - no one has the bandwidth to address dumb questions, feel like I’m lost without good guidance. Overall this is not good for anyone wanting to be successful in consulting.
