Former Big 4 Ms / SMs looking to transition to an industry HR role - would you recommend an MBA or a Masters in HR to help with this? If so - what are some good programs for this?

If I was an SM I would just transition into industry and just learn on the job. You really need more education to be a HR leader? You’ve proved you can play nice within the big 4 structure and are reasonably competent…

Depends on your background. What do you need to best connect people/hr and business outcomes? If you have an undergrad in HR and made M in human capital consulting than an MbA with and emphasis in organizational behavior could be great. If you have a bachelors in business and were a management consultant then a Masters in HR would be better. Question is what are the gaps in your experience and resume and what steps are required to close them?

In my experience degrees don't matter once you get in the door of HR. A lot of people come into the field without a degree, and if you prove yourself competent/creative/proactive/business-minded you'll be highly successful as you'll gain the confidence of the business and be seen as a revenue-driver instead of a Compliance-machine.

Do you mean like core HR Generalist roles? If yes maybe MS. Texas A&M has a FT program but firms recruit for entry level roles.

I think an MBA is helpful for a strategic HR role like an HRBP.

I've been looking to exit to an industry HR role for a while (have been at both Human Capital at D and now T&O at Accenture) - but I keep running into HR roles where they want you to know HR laws / compliance stuff, even for ostensibly more strategic / business roles like HRBP. I don't and have absolutely no interest in dealing with that kind of stuff haha...is there a better type of role I should be searching for?

In a world of remote consulting work…. How long can the US maintain its high premium over European and, esp. developing market consulting? Both price tag to clients and significantly higher salaries for the people. I imagine may move faster at Big 4, etc. than MBB, but within MBB the huge cost and salary differentials feel… increasingly hard to maintain (even though I think the differential has actually gotten bigger, not smaller in the last two years). Thoughts?
