Found out from an administrator at the firm that the firm’s hours have been low across the board over the past couple months. Is this cause for concern as an associate?

No. It’s only a concern if you are low and everyone else is high.

I agree with A1, but I would potentially start looking if you start to get low hours-wise to get a sense of the market and your options. Sometimes work will naturally dip in certain practices so don’t worry too much, but it’s good to know that you have options either way for peace of mind. I would rather be proactive than reactive. I would also check-in with your fellow associates to see how they are doing hours-wise over the next couple of months (if you feel comfortable doing so).

Depends on how low. Work fluctuates. If the admin “admitted” this to you in the context of “the staff is nervous!” then yes be concerned. They know more than you do. It could be an indicator that one or more rainmakers is either not generating work (bad) or planning an exit and quietly telling his/her clients to hang on until they land at a new firm (worse).

Interviewed yesterday with D for a consulting role with GPS 2ish YOE and multiple internships with big orgs. Everything went great except the qualitative part of the case which was awkward because I was emailed a sheet that had partial info about the case prior to the start, but I was supposed to act as if I didn’t? Quantitatively went very well. One interviewer had to reschedule due to technical difficulties. Idk if did well enough for the offer but the wait is🤢 Any tips on this last interv?

Is sales engineering a good exit opportunity? It seems like you’d be a liaison between the customer and the solution team that highlights the client needs while managing their expectations at the same time.

Hi, I have more than 5+ years of experience in Performance Testing and engineering. I do not want to continue in tech. Want to switch to management. So planning to do a PMP course. Really confused about the consequences after the course, whether I'll be able to successfully get a management role or not. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions for me? Any guidance is appreciated.

Right now, I’m at 48-72 hours with some places that I’m expecting will reach out with offer letters. I’m used to getting the offer within 24 hours after the final interview. Has me curious: What’s the longest you’ve ever waited on an offer letter?

Which consulting firms do you think offer the most opportunity/respect/salary, for someone that doesn’t really like selling super hard, preferring to be brought along as expert when others push, or actually deliver things that others sell. Seems at OW there isn’t much opportunity to go beyond EM if this is the case, and as a bit of an introvert am wondering if other firms have an alternate path available.
