Just to put it in perspective, we find out every day about men, not women, murdering, raping, mass shooting, torturing, molesting, committing genocides, and making decisions that impact our planet. One third of the people in this thread have been molested as children by male doctors, neighbors or uncles.
And yet I love men, believe in them, and we need to understand each other to live better together as a society.
So, *IF* there’s one bad apple that made one person’s life harder, please let’s stop jumping to conclusions that put everyone in the same basket.
I suggest you should go to one of these “women empowerment speaking engagements,” be an ally, empathize, and show women that men can actually be awesome. You are!
@CD2 Wow. That first paragraph..that’s a very specific perspective you wanted put men in.
Don’t know whether this particular story is true or not. But it’s been depressing seeing how many people are trying to take advantage of the women’s empowerment movement for selfish gains. I’m seeing a lot of bad people profiting, getting jobs and promoting themselves under the guise of progressiveness.
There’s little difference between a politician and a member of the C-suite.
OP — if you’ve really dealt with harassment in the workplace, why do you choose to perpetuate the stories of the bad apples? Why are you progressing the narrative that women lie about what happens to them, when you know firsthand that the abuse is real (and we, more often than not, aren’t believed — even those of us who ARE telling the truth)? What good is this doing you, or women at large?
I’m not saying liars should get away with anything — to the contrary, they’re pushing us backwards. But if you’ve actually dealt with abuse, I’d expect more from you — more than a vague, non-detailed post, the underlying tone of which insinuates women are liars. Why push that narrative?
I’m not saying sweep it under the rug — but this vagueness is not subtle in its agenda. Disappointing, to say the least.
Easy enough to figure out from context clues who it is you’re talking about.
How do you know the claim is false?
Homegirl, why not include all of this in the initial post? *Two snaps and a circle* do better posts.
How do you know it’s false? Some women take a trauma back because we don’t feel supported or believed. Believe her and stop shaming women for coming forward.
I am the OP. I am a woman. I have been harassed. I have been abused. I am also an ally. My point is: use REAL EXAMPLES versus shock value. The male subordinate could have been fired. Fake, sensational stories don’t further our cause.
I’m shocked. 😐
You don’t look shocked
