A consultant did that on one of my projects. Manager looked online at the flights leaving from her home airport for that day and saw that none were cancelled. She took a screen shot and sent it to the consultant with the consultant's CC and project MD copied. She was moved to a project that required no travel and she's basically flagged as a problem and hasn't been promoted in 4 years.
There's a chance that she had a family emergencythat she spoke privately with project leadership about and got the okay to go home. And in order to avoid calling attention to a personal matter, told the rest of the team that her flight got cancelled. I was on a project with a manager and she missed Monday and then Tuesday and then Wednesday... and at first the rest of the team was given excuses about flights and what not and then it came out that her marriage had blown up and project leadership was covering for her
Op.. what if the manager had some personal issues which she din want to share with others. Stop screwing others over it they did not harm you.. karma is a bitch.. btw.. seeing your way of dealing with things and sending anonymous emails .. you don't seem like a person who goes by the book anyway .. so stfu and gtfo
Was it a critical/important meeting that no one else was able to cover? I would say best approach is to talk directly to SM. Don't start this anonymous crap. If they figure it out it was you, it wouldn't look good. Be strong and just chat with the SM ONLY if it was baaaad for the project. Otherwise, ignore and move on.
Will be impossible to figure out who emailed the screenshot. Fail proof approach. Do it.
This is that back stabbing culture that ppl warned me about before joining Consulting. Unless it was that bad, don't be a dick
If I'm a P or SM and I get a snitch email from a consultant from a burner account...I have equal disdain for both consultant and Manager.
I strongly suspected another manager did this several times on my last project. We flew the same airline and her flights seemed to have a lot more issues than mine did. I think the Sunday Fundays were interfering with her being ready the next day. None of my business though - eventually if it's a real issue it will catch up to her. I'd rather mention it in confidence with people I trust than pull some sketchy anon crap.
What the hell is wrong with you OP?
I have no clue how we end up hiring such trashy employees like op.. it's sad
Because that takes away the drama!!!!!
Don't be a snitch, keep that shit in your back pocket though, play the game
I don't know if I would trust "online flight status" from airlines. Why not just ask? I am with PwC2 on this one.
For me the key is that in OP's case it's a manager that's doing this and they can really set the tone for the project and it seems this manager isn't very motivational.
If it were a peer though I wouldn't sweat it unless it directly impacted the project and my work negatively. Not my circus, not my monkeys.
@OP - talk to the manager, tell her you're aware her flight wasn't cancelled and say that it's none of your business but if she has anything she needs help with because of personal reasons you can help. 1. She's aware that her lie is verifiable in case she decides to make it a habit 2. It'll give her a chance to correct her behavior 3. You look like a team player
One team, one Dream. Even if she lied about it, you're even worse for throwing a team mate under the bus like that. How about communicate how you feel with that manager like a human being and hash out your problems like adults? Why blue ball yourself like that?! IDK how EY ended up with a POS like you, bum ass
Do I use my fishbowl burner to send screenshots to my senior manager and partner and call her out? 🤔
(Hate dat bitch)
Burn her!!!!
@OP Sorry for all the EY hate here... that is so unacceptable to outright lie and miss a client presentation. The truth shall set you free 🙌🏼
The manager should've spoken to the consultant first. The manager - assuming the consultant has not been promoted - f'ed the consultant big time. I agree that lying is wrong but as managers our job is not to throw people under the bus.
