This is for people on h1b visas only I think

it kind of isn’t. lots of highly skilled people on h1b visas are underpaid by their employers and in some fields (eg software engineering), they perpetuate the expectation that a company can “get away” with paying employees little.

So many of us are desperate to work in the US that we take accept lower wages, take fewer career risks, stay in places where we aren’t appreciated because of fear of losing our visa status. freelancing between gigs is also not an option, and yeah, employers know that

That’s also where Glassdoor sources some its salary data

Some of these salaries seem super low
