Pay attention to COVID restrictions and fluid policies but as long as you remain careful you should definitely live your life. Without tourism many beautiful parts of this world would not survive.
If it’s helpful, I’m a public health major. I think fully vaccinated travel is fine. Shared accommodations and maneuvering in your bubble is fine.
I’d be cautious of crowded indoor spaces and indoor dining. Other than that, carry masks and sanitizer, and enjoy your time!
Have an exit strategy in case travel guidelines change!
People still worry about traveling??
You’re traveling through multiple airports with tens of thousands of people, crammed into a plane w 200+ ppl (there and back), and your worried about sharing an Airbnb w friends you know are vaccinated?

If the five of you are fully vaccinated, and none of you regularly interact with anyone with a higher risk profile, then what’s even the question? Go! Take reasonable precautions, the same ones you’d take a home, but otherwise go and have fun.
Athens, GA or Athens, Greece? Just came back from Europe and we are all fine as a family.
Go to Greece! They use common sense there and we felt very safe in Europe.
You all may be eligible for a booster by then, which would be great.
I'd suggest you look for articles on what the residents of Athens are asking.
People keep traveling to Hawaii but they've specially asked people NOT to. As long as you don't see that, then just ensure you are strict about masks (k95 or better, not cloth) , regular hand washing, and I'd recommend a face shield + mask for dense environments (airports, etc.)
This is why I didn’t go to Iceland. TONS of tourists had been visiting and their numbers started to skyrocket. It just didn’t feel right to go. We would have been careful and I like to think we would have been fine, but travel is how variants spread and we knew we could rebook. A lot of people think it was a silly decision, but it was the right decision for us.

I was supposed to go to Iceland a few weeks ago but woke up on the day I left to the advisory being raised to level 4 - do not travel. We didn’t travel.
Go!! Don’t miss the opportunity but just be cautious and take the necessary measures! Enjoy yourself while being safe.
Greece or Georgia??
Talking about going to a Bulldogs game, right?
Thanks for the responses, everyone! Really appreciate the different perspectives

You’re worried about social distancing from the ppl you’re sharing accommodations with? I think you need to give up on that dream, if you want to worry about something focus more on the airports and restaurants you’ll be at.
You sound like a lot of fun
I agree! Considerate and into international travel! 🥰
OP, ASL?
I was hoping to travel internationally at the end of the year but the way Delta and vaccine rollout to other countries is going, I'm definitely holding off. With that said, if you're staying in an Airbnb with vaccinated friends, that in itself is fine. It's very difficult for vaccinated people to get COVID. The biggest risk in this post is travelling to Greece and unknowingly spreading COVID to the population.
There are a couple different things you can do I'll list below. Feel free to do any combination of them
- avoid public spaces indoors unmasked 2 weeks before departure
- test for COVID before your flight (either to or from Greece)
- double mask in airport + during flight
- test for COVID when you arrive (either to or from Greece)
- avoid public spaces indoors unmasked in Greece
I probably wouldn't do all that testing and would instead just focus on limiting the time I'm unmasked indoors in public or in crowds outside so the chances of me spreading COVID are minimal. For me, I basically never eat inside restaurants.
My friend works at Dept of State and when they visited the states from their post, they had to test before leaving and upon arrival in the U.S., so it's not that weird to do.
Very few transmissions are documented occurring outdoors, so if the majority of things you do are outdoors you'll be good.
You can buy packages of self test kits at the pharmacy and test yourself regularly. Proctored self tests are also available for travel back into the states.. so much easier than traveling and finding testing sites.
Go and get a rapid test if in doubt. I just went 2 weeks ago, super easy to get rapid test in a pharmacy.
They’re inaccurate unless very symptomatic
I am going this Saturday!
