I am a 3rd year Senior looking to leave to industry. I am expected to get Manager next June but I am no tired and burned out and just do not care anymore.
I am looking at Senior roles because Manager roles are looking for people with more experience than I have. The Senior roles I am looking at have a base salary increase of only 15%.
Should I continue what I am doing or only try for manager positions?

i’m in a pickle

i have a job where the work is okay, but i cannot stand my coworkers. there’s been so much undermining and rudeness that, even though we’re in a slower slow time, i have so much built up resentment i still don’t like my job.

i also don’t like the permanently remote nature of the job (wasn’t remote when i joined), and feel like im getting pigeon-held into low value work (compliance, provision, fixed assets etc.)

am i reacting too emotionally for wanting to leave?

I'm interested in moving to industry FP&A like so many.

I know people say that industry has slower promotions. It's my biggest fear, to be stuck in a role with no progression.

Would love to hear your advice on the following:

- Do you have any suggestions on how you moved up the industry ladder? (Keep jumping? Additional study? Networking? Or just stuck it out and hoped for the best?)

- When did you know you had to leave for a new role?

Has anyone switched from tax to more of a finance type role? I’m looking at a senior finance associate role at a VC and it still involves some tax work but much more finance centered. It sounds kind of interesting to me but I’m not completely sold on it. Debating whether or not to interview with them but I’m also desperate to leave PA. These types of roles are what people in my group exit to so I feel like I won’t find anything else that’s decent in terms of pay.

Received an offer from Company A, but it’s in an industry I don’t want to build my career in (mftg) and the role doesn’t exactly align with typical tax responsibilities I’m looking for to transfer over later - however the salary and benefits are really good. Waiting on Company B to give a decision (salary won’t be as high but it’s the exact industry (tech) and technical experience I want). Would you settle for a good job or wait it out for something that aligns more with career goals?
