Just feeling emotionally raw. Pandemic. Isolation. Found out my first love getting married this week. Didn’t get the promotion I was up for. Some of my goals just feel so far away.
About to final round interview with a boutique consulting firm that specializes in healthcare supply chain. I’m coming from tech so I have some concerns about industry trajectory and stuff. Thoughts?
I have a pending H1-B petition and I was laid off today. Can I still get H1-B approval provided my current company does not revoke my LCA/petition? I’m currently on F1 STEM OPT and I have an approved H4 EAD that kicks in next month when my F1 expires. Is it possible to have H1-B and H4 together? Any thoughts on what’s valid and what should be done?
Do Big 4 internal services (i.e. Corp Finance, HR, Recruiting) have clients like the typical business lines too? I’m looking to get out of control testing and into something with somewhat better hours
Apologies in advance for the newbie question but could someone explain the main benefits of INDEX MATCH being better than VLOOKUP?
I'm considering joining Oliver Wyman as a Principal. Any thoughts / sentiments on the firm culture, exit opportunities, quality of work and more pointedly experience functioning at principal level?
Anyone interview with Quant hedge funds, what kind of interview questions do they ask for quant roles on the buy side? Any resources/pointers?
I have several interviews coming up over Zoom for a role at F500 healthcare company. The first meeting the hiring manager was in a polo and I was suit and tie. Should I keep that up or are people doing just a button down and jacket these days? Haven’t interviewed in a while and I was always a suit and tie person.
What are the specific salary ranges / bands for EY’s job titles in the advisory, government practice? I’m specifically keen on understanding compensation at the staff, senior, and manager levels. I may be moving from another Big4 (commercial side) and want to know what salary base I can expect / how it compares. Thanks!
Got raise but no promotion even though I was an acting senior. All of my reviews say "exceeds expectations". What should be my next step?
Was upset with my comp until I got the wmail from Anthony Caterino. For him to personally email me my comp made it all better.
I feel like some SMs are brainwashed by the client. One I am working with doesn't like people leaving or wfh or going to the home office. Dude I gotta go catch up on my PD work.
PARTNERS: two questions —1. If you see an associate has really low hours for the month, do you imagine them chillen on a beach somewhere or do you consider they probably spent most of their days sitting in front of the computer being “available”? 2. If you send an associate a random e-mail on a weekend like “Can you pull X and send to Y”, would you get annoyed if they responded saying they weren’t by a comp or would you consider it reasonable that they wouldn’t be by a comp on a weekend?
When was the last time you visited your own firm’s website? The last time I visited was when I was interviewing with them last year.
What are some niche project experiences or proficiencies MBB would value seeing from a Big 4 applicant?
The results are in, went for my medical today. I've gained 1lbs in four years in the road. I put it down to diet & exercise. Always travel with running/swimming/spin gear. Try to do per diem too!
New to consulting from industry side - on a project that is not my expertise. Any tips or suggestions so I can ramp up quickly?
Why is so much dependent on utilization? Does leadership really think that people are sitting around doing nothing on the bench?
I’ve seen a couple posts lately with comments saying that people should not use a Roth 401k. Does the logic below capture the spirit of that concept? 1. Use trad. 401k to reduce taxable income now. Convert to trad. IRA once retired, then convert gradually to Roth IRA (ladder, SEPP, etc.) at lowest marginal tax rate 2. Use Roth IRA (and/or backdoor Roth) to take advantage of tax free growth and ability to withdraw principal early without penalty
