It's fake news

like

LOOOL saw that documentary a few weeks ago. That dude is insane. Basically said everything is bad for you but some of his points were valid. I definitely agree that dairy is bad but I'm not sold on chicken being bad

like

Funded by a Hindu production company and citing studies that haven't been replicated. Documentaries are just fancy propaganda. But, yeah, I agree that you should minimize meat and dairy. Also agree that food is a health problem. And, agree that we don't eat enough fiber and processed food is pretty bad for you. Also, never met a vegan centranarian.

like

Went vegetarian a couple months back, mostly because I eat out 5-7 days a week due to travel/not wanting to buy groceries for just 2 days/alt travel, and knew it was insanely unhealthy (ie lots of oil and other crap restaurants do to food to make it taste good). I found it was the easiest switch to make.... most restaurants have plenty of veg options, still tastes pretty good and I don't have to worry about coming up with it. Feel it would be more effort to switch on my own / cooking at home. Other plus is I've lost 12 pounds without trying, and I definitely don't feel weak/under nourished. Just sharing a personal experience....

like

I don't wanna be a vegan, where the fuck do I get my protein now. The correlations in this piece are ridiculous. "Eating 1 egg a day = smoking 5 cigs/day from a cancer risk Pov" wtf??!!!

like

Our biggest health risk by far is our job. Kind of ironic to see so many consultants get worked up over this doc.

like

There are many vegan athletes so it shouldn't be a concern. There is protein in beans, lentils, nuts, grains etc. also it's a misunderstanding that ppl need excessive amounts of protein.

like

Even if you eat perfectly clean, the pollution, cellphone radiation, UV and everything else is cooking us alive anyway

like

If it's a Hindu organization, I am surprised why they say dairy is bad. We (Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims, Christians, and everyone else in India) love milk and dairy products.

like

Chicken is a filthy, disgusting bird.

like

I watched the doc and switched to the vegan life so far so good

like

The documentary doesn't say chicken is bad inherently. Chicken the way some producers make it is bad for you. Including injections, hormones, antibiotics and so fourth. Processed foods contain many additives and chemicals that are cancer causing. That's why organically prepared foods are really the only thing we should be eating.

like

I woulda say that yes there is still some risk. But I think over 80% of the risk is removed if at minimum we know that they are not engaging the the processes we know to add cancers causing agents to the food.

like

Jokes on you OP. Chicken and egg whites are staples of my diet, and I'm fit and look great, for a minority.

like

D2- the stupidity of your lines knows no bounds

like

OP - I was conflicted when I saw the documentary as well. Specially about chicken being so bad for you. However, I did some research and found a great article on Vox (I think they're great and objective, you might disagree) that essentially calls out all the BS in the documentary. Like the 18% increase risk of colorectal cancer is truly an absolute increase to the risk of cancer from 5% to 6% (18% increase of the 5%). Like many other documentaries, there is truth and then there is misinterpretation of the data to try to persuade their viewers.

like

OP, I am a vegetarian who lifts. Protein sources: 1. Greek Yogurt, lots of it 2. Plant protein powders ( go for pea and brown rice proteins and not soy) 3. Low fat cheese sticks 4. Beans 5. Milk, lots of it.

like

Your bullshit meter must be malfunctioning if you watched that documentary and were persuaded. Cherry picks studies, only interviews people who are pro-vegan, and stoops to ambush journalism. It's pseudo-science.

like

Who gives a rats ass, just try to consciously eat healthy and stay away from the obvious offenders (McDs, soda, etc.). Also, if it tastes good and has a long shelf life, it's most likely bad for you

I'm going to go vegetarian as well. Not sure how I'll get protein though, I lift.

Anyone else feel somewhat lost on what interests them long term in their career or if you’re even in the right realm of consulting? Any advice on how I can reflect and figure this out? Context - I applied for any open business analyst position in my city after graduating and ended up in healthcare consulting. I don’t love or hate it. I get the work done and I learn a lot about the healthcare industry but I’m not the most passionate about the work/industry either.

Anyone feel like they are conditioned to always try harder, do better, etc? I'm having such a hard time dialing it back (I want to do this for my own mental health). I want to be okay with just being average, but it's like I'm working against myself...I don't know if it's just a consulting thing, but it's taking A LOT of effort, and I hate feeling like I'm letting ppl down, but ppl let me down all the time lol.

I know we all love the work from home (or do we?) but does anyone actually miss traveling for their consulting engagements and all the fun that goes along with it? The late nights at the office then the bar and random hookups and excitement and all that? Sure it’s a grind but I think I actually miss it too. Maybe I just miss seeing people at work or seeing people at all. I wonder if we’ll ever get back to that.
