I don’t do the hourly thing but I do wonder if my $210k salary is actually not that high. This may be attributed to the fish bowlians in other bowls who apparently all make $400-500k and that’s maybe average according to them. A lot of folks say those who work at google or Meta (fb) easily make those numbers, but h1b public info for those companies shows more reasonable salaries, mostly in the low to mid $100s.
My friend is an executive assistant at startups. She is very good at what she does, but basically a secretary for executives. She makes a higher salary than I do.
Well, in-house is probably better in that when I work nights and weekends, it’s “voluntary”? Don’t have to worry about billable hours. I’m at over 280k all told, and probably work 50 hours a week, with occasional 80 hour weeks with special projects. Having said that, I wouldn’t mind making more money and working less heh.
Lol, y’all ever had a low salaried job?
Oh yeah. Paid below minimum wage in my native country. And I already had a law degree plus fluent in 3 languages.
I slept in my office while making under $40k/yr in my first job. I’ll gladly work nights and weekends from home for $200k.
But there are tons of jobs that pay 6 figures with real WLB. You make it sound like there is nothing between workaholic and low pay.
Yes. Shhhh
I always check how much it is hourly… also I have family in the medical field who work half the month for much more
Sounds like a pretty good gig!
🙄
Should you keep your eye rolls to yourself too then? And I’m sorry you didn’t get the point of my post despite reading the whole thing. Maybe one day if your boss will allow it, you’ll get a good night’s sleep and have enough energy to focus and understand the concept. You don’t have to though 🙂
I make 95k with a 2000 bills me hour requirement a 5k bonus dosent kick in till I hit 2500.. so I don’t wanna hear complaints
Wow you got the worst of both worlds bro. It’s an employee’s market. Get a new job!
Girl get a new firm, 80-100 hour weeks? You’re the one playing yourself
Lol no, I make 6 figures and do 35-40 hours/week. Couldn’t be happier with my WLB. I was just wondering if all the people that work in glorified sweatshops (like some law firms) just kid themselves into thinking that it’s a good idea not to have a life outside of work. I know that some just get absorbed by the work and just feel like it’s their only purpose after a while. Just wanted to see some anonymous reactions.
I don’t see anything wrong with your Friday shower thought and have frequently had similar thoughts. Maybe it’s because I live in a very HCOL city with soaring home prices, and everyone around me seems to be making way more $$$ and working less hours, and many of them never even went to grad school, that I feel under-compensated — especially when I consider how many years of grinding it took to get through school, including the years of giving up “having a life” to study, plus my current situation of many working hours.
Yup, same here. HCOL and surrounded by lots of undergrads making 6 figures since their early 20s.
