Lack of knowledge is ok.
Lack of humanity is not. #noban

Agreed for the most part, but willful ignorance is another thing altogether.

If you're like the PwC poster below being condescending towards folks objecting to detaining legal travelers, without having read the EO or thought about it outside the bubble of your own privilege, expect to catch criticism. I'm a citizens but at least have the basic human decency to empathize.

I agree with the ban being absolutely insane, and I'm fired up as well. However, attacking and insulting people gets us no where. We just become the thing we are speaking out against. Really should be a time to unite each other. No one listens when you insult them while trying to teach them. Really simple to treat others the way you want to be treated.

D1, the proper response to somebody who isn't aware of the EO details is simply to tell them to read it, or even provide them with some of the key points. A response to a person who is ignoring the facts isn't to call them names and bully them, but to educate them. If they don't want to listen, simply move on and let them be. Telling ppl they are stupid and fueling arguments only increases the divide.

And we have to remind ourselves that so many people in America have never left their home state, let alone the country; it follows that their mentalities would be one that rejects any form of cultural diversity, especially if it's now framed in a way where they will solely do harm to our nation. But most have no malicious intent, I would hope. I completely agree with D2's approach.

Moved to Big Law last summer from mid sized firm, but I'm not sure if I'm performing well. I've worked on some good matters but last month or two has had quiet periods (1-2weeks) and a few of the matters I've been put on have been smaller discrete ones rather than a big M&A deal. Although the team isnt too busy overall. I haven't had a "talk" or any general negative feedback. Would the partners mention to me if my performance was below par or is this their way of showing it? Should I ask?

Applied to Deloitte for a SC position & was told by HR that I was aiming too high so she had me interview for a Consultant position instead. Received an offer, she asked what salary I wanted & I said $100k based off the averages I saw online, she quickly agreed. Today was my first day & I saw that in the system they have me as a SC which has an average of $120k so now I’m not sure if there’s an error or if I got finessed out of $20k 😭 is it worth it to ask HR about/any tips on how to go about it
