The 401(k) contribution limit also increased from $18,500 to $19,000. Go ahead and update that contribution percentage as well while you’re at it 👍🏼

I max out 401k with Roth style. Should I be doing a traditional IRA as well? I've always hesitated on traditional in favor of Roth. I exceed income limit for Roth IRA. Keep it traditional? Or fund and convert?

Hi there - new to the bowl. For those that have pretty large savings/investment account balances and net worths north of 300k or even 1MM under the age of 35, can I ask how it is you’re accumulating? I have a 90k salary, living in NYC. Trying to max out retirement accounts, net worth of approx. 150K+. There isn’t much room for extra savings after-taxes and expenses etc. Is my most important goal to seek a large pay increase? I don’t see how else I can accumulate as exponentially as others. TIA.

Small agency owner 🙋🏻‍♂️ I’ve wracked my brain and have 3 biz model options, none great:

Billable hrs: Generally accepted. We all know the downsides.

Pay4performance: Big upside potential, tons of risks.

Project pricing: Cloak for billable hours. You have to estimate project cost with something.

Who’s thought of a better approach??? Genuinely curious if there is one.

C. My mortgage paid off or/and kids college paid off;

Need some FIRE advice please. I am currently 25 M, with 125k in savings across my 401k/ESPP/Personal Brokerage Acct. etc. I have no debt. Base salary of 125k with up to 25% bonus.

I contribute 20% to my pre tax (employer matches up to 6%) and 5% in my Roth 401k and 10% in my ESPP. I keep only what I need in my checking to pay rent and have some fun on the weekends, but all relative would you say that I am allocating my funds correctly. About $200k in equity in my house (half paid off). Beyond maxing my 401k I have 6k/month I save/invest. Ideally want to retire in 8 years (45). What are good options to do with the 6k/month? Right now I just blindly buy mutual funds.
