Use crafting cases. It's the best course and the free part is already great

What are you preparing for if you work at McK?

Fair enough. Good luck!

I’m not familiar with crafting cases so sorry if this sort of thing is already there, but I found the Rocketblocks drills helpful - they have a week-long free trial.

like

Find a case partner and do actual case practice.

Best advice

MConsultingPrep Youtube videos (underrated and very high quality), rocket blocks, and live practice with someone who knows the business world well is what I’ve been doing

ah. my school gives me access, I agree about not paying for case prep

Advice needed! I was laid off in Jan and since then I’ve been building my own practice (which I started last year and was doing on the side). Since Covid happened, work has been a lot slower so I started applying for jobs. I got two job offers in these past couple weeks, but the problem is that neither is in the area I want to practice, though the experience from one of them would be probably useful in the future. Ultimately I want to have my own practice, but my dilemma is that as a 3rd (cont.)

Am I good enough to join MBB? I am a degree apprentice for a big 4 consultancy, with 1 day off for study (management degree with the Open University). Once I complete my degree, I hope to join either McKinsey, Bain or BCG as a generalist. I will have 4YE working as a (non-strat) analyst. As I see it, my greatest obstacle will be getting an interview given my lack of a prestigious education/good upbringing. Grateful for any insights on how I can maximise my chances/if I have a chance at all.

There’s not that many jr. strategists on here, and I’m afraid that an agency I’m interviewing with might recognize my complaints/questions 🙃

I’m a tech consultant working in the SAP practice. I’m a second year associate. I have decided that I don’t like the culture of consulting - work more hours, always add more work and responsibility to your plate, etc. I would like to work a job that is more 9-5 that doesn’t expect you to work in so many different things at once. What industry roles should I be applying to? Is leaving after 1.5 years too soon?

Hey Mates I'm working in pretty good fintech firm. I'm in my 30s with 2 kids and they are calling everyone to office by January I want remote job and would never want to live in any city again. Wondering which route to opt? 1. Start investing in open source and build a profile, find freelance jobs on upwork/Fiverr Or 2. Start giving interviews in remote jobs. FYI I'm terrible at interviews and spoken communications. Please provide your inputs. I want to work remote with good pay.

Let’s pretend we’re holding companies. I’ll start: No, we can’t hire an extra writer even though you’re clocking 70+ hours a week. BTW, our contract with your client caps billable hours per employee because they know we don’t pay overtime. Here’s a non-billable code you should start using for the rest of the year.

Hi everyone, I need your advice. I've been interviewing with MBB and Tier 2 firms over the past few years. However I was never well prepared for case studies. I now decided to take 6-8 months and seriously prepare for cases/mental math and try them again next year. I currently have Victor Chengs book and few others. What else would you recommend for me? How can i lay out a plan to study? Any source you can recommend free or paid?

I’m mentally breaking down because I have been doing a job of a scheduler, PM, notetaker, regulatory submissions, and thus have no room for growth to work on strategy. I’m an AS and I am so sick of having to remind everyone because no one looks at my notes, recaps, and no one remembers anything from any meeting. Recently because I’m so exhausted I started making more “mistakes” like not catching a mistake on a submission. Is this because I suck or is it time for me to move off? I feel terrible.
