Hello Everyone! Does anyone have a connection at Netflix ! I am an author/marketing associate and truly my dream job is to work on the team that creates/produces Drive to Survive. I am a huge F1 fan! However, I am willing to start where I can and work my way there! I was laid off due to Covid and just trying to get back into the field and industry I love.

The budget, so no one is expecting an “A-list director” on a “we can afford a local wedding videographer” budget, and has the production actually been sold through to the client, or is it a “maybe” and the bidders are about to go through the motions for naught?

It really depends on if you want a Creative perspective. That was the original question and it seems like President 1 is getting off topic.
Assuming we all know what the budget is and the Creative is signed off at the highest level, how do we begin the director search?

First, make a catch up to go through the boards and ask how they see the spots. I have had producers not understand that a campaign was comedy because they didn’t even read the scripts.
Then tell them to send you their director wishlist and say you will add your own suggestions. Tell them to include a range of A list and other less obvious choices so you have options and fallbacks.
Never say you’ll just ask a rep. Even if you’re going to. A creative wants to know you have lots of experience, good contacts and your own ideas about who is best for the job.
The first note made me cringe, but this is a good shout. The creative team has been entrenched in the work for longer typically and spending that extra time with it on my end can certainly make a difference.
