From age 5 to 20 I dedicated myself to singing. I was voted most talented in my high school, did regional/ state choirs, it was a huge part of who I was. I stopped after missing auditions due to a torn muscle in my jaw one year. Fear of rejection and work held me back the past 12 years and let that part of me lay dormant. Last night I auditioned for a local musical ensemble. It was terrifying. They made me sight read a song I hadn’t prepared from sheet music. I am so proud of myself for trying

Nice! Did you get the part? *The bowl is now invested in this side-venture you got going. 🥳

I won’t find out for a few weeks but I’ll post when I do! Thank you :)

I didn’t get the part I auditioned for, but I got 2 other roles with their own songs! One in each act!

Way to go!! Sight reading is no easy task. Used to play the sax from 6th grade through early college. Keep it going! I definitely miss playing. Still have it in the closet and may take it out again one day.

I just might! My good back is not knowing how to read music as well or remember all the details. Was 1st in the state of Texas my senior year in high school. Starting from square 1 or 2 is definitely nerve racking haha

Congratulations, that must have been hard to do.

Never Google “Supra or infra” again!

I admit, as a fifth year big law associate it has taken me way too long to find a good memory devise for whether Supra or infra means “see above” or “see below.” But I found it and now I’ll share it with my other Latin-vocabulary-challenged fishies.

“Supra” has the word “up” in it. As in: see up! Boom. Done. You’re welcome.

I'm feeling a lot of anger towards my manager (now he's acting normal but there were moments where he was condescending/dismissive/mocked my and others work/arrogant/said stuff was "wrong" constantly/belittling the difficulty of tasks etc. in the past project).
Maybe it is "standard chewing out" but it bothered me a lot. So much that I find myself still getting all fired up inside thinking about it...
Idk how to let go of this :/ Thoughts?

Resigning soon. I’ve been in the job a short time, but the boss is a real unique kind of bad apple that gets weirdly attached to everyone she hires like they’ll never leave ever. The team is long tenured but its for the money that they overlook the BIG mood swings and disrespectful demeanor. I expect the resignation will go bad with lots of badgering. Any tips?

Didn’t grow up with a lot of money, which forced my parents to be very frugal raising me. Seeing how differently they got treated when going to buy things they had saved for, versus the people who came in with obvious cash is something I’ll never forget. So now any time i go buy anything expensive I always dress way down, and be mindful of the people ignoring me in a store/dealership. Fun times.

I just went through a rough time dealing with depression, PTSD, and anxiety. I didn’t seek help earlier because I didn’t want to appear weak or less capable than my male counterparts. I tried to ignore the elephant in the room and it almost cost me too much. I am glad that someone convinced me to seek professional help. That was the best decision. If you’re struggling with stress at work, let me tell you: your mental health is more valuable! Reach out and talk to someone. It can save your life.
