How do you do the min amount of work while looking for new jobs? I mean, by nature, I am a mediocre worker but I hate it when ppl judge or look down on me (people pleaser). Therefore, I do a good enough job and it doesn’t raise eyebrows. This balance is really affecting my health 😂😢. First world problems are the WORST.
D - your thoughts on how adjusted utilization is viewed within the firm. Is that on par to client or way beyond consideration?
How is it possible Partners ignore performance data to promote and are seemingly never held accountable for when their promotion doesn’t pan out?
How hard should you actually work in consulting? Obviously we have utilization requirements so we work long hours but I’m tired of giving 100% of my brain power. Is there any benefit of working harder? IMO there’s an incentive to work slower
Do folks think 100K promotion for Bonvoy Amex/Chase will come around soon or should I just bite the bullet at 75K promo?
Mortgage refinancing will be more expensive as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac raise fees https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2020/08/13/mortgage-refinancing-more-expensive-as-fannie-mae-freddie-mac-raise-fees.html
Any Midwest SAEs here? Anticipating promotion soon and want to figure out what I should negotiate for
Do any firms not have utilization metrics?
I noticed today that my utilization on ToD plunged even though I continue to be staffed? Anyone experience the same?
Was passed over for a promotion and a friend said ‘well, everything happens for a reason’. Do you believe everything happens for a reason, or are you smart?
That time when your partners start a utilization contest where for 2 weeks of crazy hours might get you a Starbucks gift card
I get really anxious when I don’t have much to do at work, I start worrying I’m going to get in trouble for being under utilized.. does anyone else ever experience this?
Is utilization less important if the firm simply cannot sell enough projects to staff people on?
Deloitte friends: any benefit to exceeding utilization targets? Project requirements mean I can't take pto before YE but I'm taking for 97%...
I know that influencers aren't a concept. But can I still use influencers as part of the execution to raise awareness?
What would you do if you have way less clients than your peers? Do you wait until you are assigned more clients or speak up? I'm a high performer but not utilized to my fullest capacity.
Is unlimited PTO a curse or a blessing!
Just moved in-house & am hiring a designer - NO clue what salary to propose for this role. Full benefits, mid-level, Chicago-based, mostly designing internal materials (town halls, etc.). Help?
Traveling to San Diego with the BF in November and looking for a place to stay and things to do. Any recommendations?
On my current project we are working directly for the ceo and coo. I tend to think that whenever you present something to someone at this level, it needs to look good. Even if it’s an early draft things need to be professional. I don’t want to lose their attention or our credibility by showing bad stuff. My teammates on the other hand think it’s ok to show rough work because we are “co-creating” and they are normal people too.... who do you side with
Side hustle/independent consulting gig while on the bench? Hi fish, are you taking small consulting gigs on the side? I used to work at big 4 and now in fintech startup, there’s a need for SMEs here.
So with places like LA requiring masks indoors again and with the delta variant going around, will going into BCG offices ever be permanently optional?
Holy shit fellow 🐠🐠 -- boarding SFO-ORD, and TSA is rechecking everyone's ID/boarding pass *and* doing a visual bag scan, on the gangway, after you scan your phone, before the plane. Two questions:
I am on the job hunt (for the first time since graduating college) and would love any recommendations or openings that you all may have or know of. I have 6 years of experience within many aspects of HR and would love to stay in the HRBP/Manager realm if possible. Remote is ideal. Thank you all!
Next week is the 1st week on my project (it's an 8 hr flight). I have a big family event on Wednesday night that I want to take 1 day PTO for. Would it be unreasonable to ask to work remote 1st wk?
Do y’all constantly keep track of what you’re doing week to week to make it easier to update resume at end of project?
Au revoir SPG. It’s been a good ride. How many of you will be looking to ditch Marriott (or already have)? To which program are you moving ?
What’s everyone wearing today? I’ve been wfh for so long, I needed to capture my first day back in the office.
What are my entry opportunities in MBB? I’ve done mostly tech consulting, project management and most recently M&A strategy & execution, non MBA (couldn’t afford one)
It seems partners are much more flexible with associates who have kids than with those who don’t. If it’s okay for my colleague with a kid to leave at 5 pm and log on later, why isn’t that the same for me (no kids)? My obligations might be different, but I still have a life and want to be able to do certain things, like catch that evening workout class or cook dinner for my partner. As you can probably tell, my firm is operating 100% in person. There is no point here — I’m just whining.
What are this group’s thoughts on Michigan Ross online MBA or UNC’s online MBA? Deciding between going this route due to COVID for a T-15 school. Can only imagine the bar for admissions is much much lower.
Met with a CCO for a role on a notoriously “challenging” account. Thirty minute Zoom, nothing in-depth. A few days later the recruiter emails like “Great news. We’ve talked to many people but they’d like to make an offer to you!” I’m thinking to myself, it was a 30 minute call, I’ve never met my direct manager, potential partner(s), etc...So these guys are just desperate to fill this role, right?
Is everyone always on a video call at Google? Many other companies have communication around zoom/video call fatigue, but wondering if that culture has dipped into Google's at all?
Do any large firms offer comp time ? I just left a firm with comp time for one that offers only 18 days time off.
Are thank you notes or emails after an interview still recommended? Or, would they just annoy the interviewer?
Do I need personal car insurance to rent a car while traveling? Compliance and benefits said 'encouraged', but interested to know if any of you all don't.
