Sit back. Take a deep breath. Now focus on learning the purposes of the project and pick up little things in the workstreams. Stand up, shake the clients hands and make an introduction. Also ask a lot of questions for clarification and ask how you can help your team with anything.

OP, this is what you should do: as an intern, the best way to add value is to first see the work that the analysts/consultants are doing. Find the most time consuming/tedious work and offer to take that off their plate. You've now freed up a more valuable resource who can do the same for a senior consultant, who could free some time for a manger... And so on. It may not be the biggest ego booster, but the most valuable thing you can do is to realize that other team members' time is more valuable than your own and do what you can to transfer time consuming tasks from them to you

My advice-- try to learn to be comfortable with being a bit uncomfortable... part of what consulting is. Give it a few more weeks too; you'll be surprised how much you will learn about your project in that time even if it seems like a foreign language now.
Ask questions. What, are they going to be mad at you for not knowing everything as an intern? You're they're to learn, so ask them to teach you. If they don't, that's on them.
If you feel useless you probably are. We've all had that intern on our team and whole we're nice to them during the study, they generally don't get a return offer. I'd tell your manager immediately that you realize you are under performing and ask for suggestions to improve. This is your best shot at recovery.

Though that's not how I would approach it, there is some merit in SM1's advice. Better to have an intern that realizes they're useless than one that thinks they know it all.
Internship is a time for you to strategically fuck up as much as possible to get best outcome you can. You will never have as much leeway in fucking up. Take calculated risks, push yourself, and get back up when you get knocked down.
Don't sit around worrying you're gonna fuck up; actually do it and move on.

God senior managers are the worst. Keep your head up OP, I still get that feeling when joining new projects and I've been doing this for 5 years. Definitely ask a lot of questions but make them thoughtful "I researched this and could you explain why we're saying/doing X instead of Y(researched alternative?)"
OP - don't stress too much. Go to the manager/SC and say exactly what it is that you don't understand. Don't worry if it seems too much, just ask. We value interns, we bring them in for a reason, we want them to learn and show that they are willing to learn. Just be honest and ready to go the extra mile. The firm invests in you for a reason: to have you return as an employee :)
