FTM and making my baby shower registry and completely overwhelmed. What are some must have items or over looked items you'd suggest? For context it's a boy and due October 29th.

Baby bjorn bouncer.

like

This was one of my most priced possessions during the first 6 months. It allowed us to do everything, from having a normal meal to taking a shower. I gift this to everyone I know who's having a baby

like

Check out Lucies List - I made my registry pretty much of all their recommendations. Didn’t steer me wrong, very little of our gear went unused and there wasn’t anything I didn’t really like.

likehelpful

I second Lucie’s list. Also the book Baby Bargains was helpful for info and produce comparisons.

like

First off, I can relate. My first is due 10/9. So no specific items to share but can suggest an approach if helpful

We had a cool cousin send hers over. It helped us know which sections to prioritize. Then we went to Buy Buy Baby to see if we saw anything else we wanted and build a registry.

Ironically, given the wide range of income in our family / friend group we’re going to build the whole registry on Amazon.

I used a swing a lot, boppy pillow and nursing cover up.

As someone said before, the bouncer, and the carrier as well. As many onesies as possible of the kind that can be opened from everywhere (shoulder, bottom, body... The ones that are a single piece are a nightmare to put and take off). There's some pj's that are like a bag with an opening on the bottom. Most comfortable thing ever to change a baby while half asleep. Finally, bottle warmer. I breastfed exclusively but froze some milk to use when I wasn't there. This thing was gifted to us and super useful, pour the milk in the bottle, some water in the warmer and that's it. Sounds useless but way better than the microwave.

Bottle warmer is a good one! Lots of onesie and sleepers .

Baby bathtub. Stroller. Carseat.

Snoo (gift card or set up for others to contribute), baby Brezza WiFi formula maker, travel system, goumi sleepers, baby blankets (nice thick ones), sound machine, baby tub (weighs baby and gives water temp), Nuk bottles, baby Brezza instant sanitizer, nice jammies for you, nice socks for you (Tavi), compression leggings for you (gift card), door dash gift card, baby socks, baby hats, comfy nursing chair (set up for people to contribute), baby bath shower head, baby soap, Mustela cradle cap set , California beach co play yard, Graco bassinet/changing table play yard... I just had my baby Nov. last year. These are some of my faves. I could add more. Feel free to message me

Do the diaper raffle at the shower! I didn’t have to pay for diapers for the first like 9 months and got to try a bunch of different brands and find what we liked and worked for our daughter. The boppy lounger and nursing pillows were fabulous and I heavily used both. Ask for gift cards! I was constantly ordering small things I didn’t know I would need and not everyone does the first few weeks after the baby is born, ie nipple guards, nipple cream, wipe warmer, more Velcro swaddlers, etc. Honestly, I got hand me down swing, play mat, and rolling bassinet. I highly recommend if you can find because you only use these things for a few months and there are a lot of other items you can get that you will use for years. Register for a good jogging stroller (love my Jeep stroller). Haven’t jogged with it yet but great for off roading , zoo trips, etc. also, a diaper genie for each floor of your house... seriously.

As echoed by other moms, bassinet, bouncer (Baby Bjorn is really good), a wrap or a baby carrier, diapers, onesies, burp clothes, playmats are good options. Strollers, car seats can be added as well as you will need them for sure. Additionally, baby bottles, baby food makers, wipes warmer and bottle warmers can be added as well.

So here is my dilemma:
- based in the UK
- opportunity for lateral internal move (culture&engagement) or stay where I am (reward). I am mid level IC struggling to progress due to flat structure so considering lateral move then hopefully up from there.
- 2 primary aged children, currently have flexibility in current/new role too
- Husband just got accepted on a international rotation which means I will be single parent for the short term.

What to do? Go with the unknown or coast comfortably?

Anyone have three kids and working in big law? I just found out I’m pregnant with no. 3 and it’s been a lot trying to juggle morning sickness, but based on my experience, I know this is only the tip of the iceberg of what’s to come. My husband and I are elated, but the anxiety of being a mom of 3 kids and working in big law is preventing me from truly enjoying this news. It would be good to know what it’s really like having 3 kids so that I can evaluate how long I really have left in big law.

6 months pregnant and just laid off. And 40% of my severance was just taken in taxes .. I just spoke with paid family leave and I no longer qualify even though I had been paying into the program (thanks NY).. I already applied for unemployment but doctors are telling me I’ve got 10-14 weeks left in this pregnancy.. so stressed having twins and being unemployed, no maternity leave, no paychecks coming in, and I’ve been applying but not a single interview.. just ugh. 😭

I want to brag on my kid, but I don’t want to embarrass him, so I’m doing it here. My college sophomore found out today that he ended up with a B in his accounting class - which is remarkable, given that he received a 50 on his first exam and a 70 on his second. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen him work this hard - and I couldn’t be more proud. The grades that come easily don’t impress me nearly as much as the ones that are hard fought.
