Victim blaming classic pwc
Go to the airport earlier next time
I'm super white and it happens to me. You're not a victim.
Hey @pwc2 coffee sometime?
Swarthy mid eastern brother here. No matter how long I grow my beard or how thick I fake an accent I never get selected. It's always some old white person in front of me. And I see the look of horror in the eyes of other onlookers as I waltz through, sometimes even skipping the body scanners because they "go down for repair" just as I get there. So take some pride in being profiled...Nobody is validating my exotic authenticity :(
"random" lol
That sucks. However, they randomly screen 70 yo Caucasian woman too. I watched them grill an older lady once.
I do think that calling the gate to let them know you were being screened makes sense though.
Breath!
Ha I'm a black chick but look exotic and I get screened EVERY time despite my TSA Pre status.
I'm less pissed about the 'randomness' of it all and more how TSA approached it. Pat me down? Sure. Dismantle the entire luggage (including suits) without regard - and then have trouble re-packing it? Come on. I missed it by mere minutes, even just a simple call to the flight desk for a 180 second delay would've been enough.
Were you looking nervous because you knew you were barely going to make your flight? I've found when I look anxious or in a hurry they always slow down, and of course when I'm smiling and taking my time, then they don't look at me twice. Try just taking some deep breaths and relaxing next time?
Oh & sorry @op. Yea Shit happens. There are worse reasons to miss a flight, now you'll be a hero
Clearly you did not follow the rules to arrive at the airport 90 minutes prior to your flights departure. This ones on you, not TSA.
Lol D2!
Tsa can eat a dick
If you arrive so late to the airport that a 5 min screener makes you miss a flight, MAYBE it was you who decided to show up so late that made you miss your flights.
Sucks that they selected you (presumably) based on discrimination, but I would hope and expect they don't stop/expedite their search based on your timetable. This would create an exploitable situation where someone wishing to do harm could just "cut it close on time" on the day they planned to execute.
They swabbed my entire luggage. I've been checked before where they screen for whatever messed their radar (e.g a power cable) but never had them individually remove sections and chemical swab the entire bag. @D3, BCG good points.
Props to united for getting me 2 standby flights for no cost though
