Fun fact that consultants will appreciate: The weight of the Liberty Bell equals the number of billable hours in the year. 2,080 lbs.

Can anyone else “wow” us with a fun fact?

Two of my really good friends at work have had their work dry up in the past few months (because of the Rona). I'm like two months ahead of them on hours, and they're worried about not making their minimum billable requirements.

Feel sort of guilty and try to avoid talking about hours with them. I'm just hoping the firm doesn't give them trouble...

This is not a sarcastic question, I genuinely want to know, how do you use PTO as an attorney? Is your billable hour requirement for the month offset, or are you expected to make it up? How do you make sure your cases are all good and there won’t be any fires while you’re gone?

I have a question about mid-size Philadelphia law firms. Does anyone have any insight about what life is like (culture, pay, billable hours, cases, WFH, perks, etc.) as a junior partner/senior associate/of counsel in the litigation department at the following firms: Montgomery McCracken, Schnader Harrison, Stradley Ronon, Dilworth Paxson, Klehr Harrison?

Does anyone have experience working for a ALSP? How does compensation work (pay and benefits)? Are you an employee or technically an IC? Do you have billable requirements like at a firm? How do you think it prepared you to potentially move in house? I'm currently at a firm but thinking of taking a position with an ALSP but my goal is to go in house.

For those working agency-side, what is your requirement for daily/weekly billable hours and time tracking? Trying to find a balance between what is fair and contributes towards a positive work environment, but still profitable.

Has anyone transitioned from Tax to RM? Could you share your experience and pros/cons of the change? Really want to get out of client facing/billable work, but I like my firm. Thank you!

Man this Bowl is filled with some angry mid-levels. We get it, this job was hard for you, but it is for juniors now, too. Stop punching down.

I don’t think the juniors are entitled, they just want to share in their firms’ wealth. Surely any salary increases for the Classes of 2019, 2020, and 2021 would easily pay for themselves through billable hours.

Please help: leave a job that I love (with some minor flaws) that’s really a 9-6 for a job with a 45% increase in salary with 1900 billable hours and sounds like it has a good culture? When I talk to other people everyone seems to think the right choice is obvious… but for some reason I’m not sure what to do.

I just spoke with a software architect that went back to school to learn software engineering after law school because it was more lucrative and had less hours. He’s worked his way up and has the skills and authority to work 6:30am-10am and gets to work remotely. We discussed that results/outputs is better than billable time like in law and public accounting. Yet, his parents and others would view him as “lazy” but he does his job and makes a fantastic living. Time>Money and Results>Hours

Hey fellow designers, I recently saw a tweet that the new hourly rate for designers in US is $200-250hr(screenshot). And more people seem to confirm that:
https://twitter.com/francois_bach/status/1399063307936354309?s=21

I think the lack of awareness of how much our peer designers make causes huge gap differences in what we’re paid.

I work full time for a sorta established tech startup in NYC with 100+ employees.
As a sr product designer I made $85k/year (no other monetary bonus)

In my new role I make $127k/year (about $67/hr). Hbu?
