Mine: my first day at the client site and I clogged their only bathroom and it flooded everywhere. It was pretty obvious it was me + let’s just say that they definitely included that expense in their next financial statements LMAO.

I was either there for the interview with the security manager (asking the have you ever pissed with the toilet seat down questions) or the polygraph (round 1 or 2).

Janitor walked in on my senior manager banging my senior on the desk

I’ll add that to list of benefits of working from home

During my staff year, our team was placed in a super cold room at the client’s. We were convinced they turned off the heat in that room on purpose. The other staff and I thought it was a good idea to buy 2 electric heaters. About 5 minutes after we plugged it in, the entire side of our floor short-circuited including the CFO’s office. We had endure that busy season in the cold.

Ok - So many stories….. First one - moved to a mid size city as a brand new audit staff. Was in line at the grocery store one night when a guy behind me in line started flirting and then got really aggressive hitting on me and asking me to go get a drink. I was 23 and he was older - I politely tried to put him off and eventually had to get quite firm “sorry, I’m just not interested” and he finally got the message. Two days later I show up for my first audit assignment and the Sr Mgr goes to introduce me to the controller who turns out to be the guy from the grocery store! I was mortified but it was worse for him and he avoided me like the plague the whole two weeks I was onsite. I hope it’s gotten better but I was unprepared as a young female audit staff for all the hassling from clients along with the constant “you can’t be older than 18” jokes and comments. And don’t get me started on inventory observation stories - first one I got sent to do a 100% count of calves on a dairy farm who produced cheese. They told me I had only one chance to get an accurate count and made me stand on a fence while they ran the cows through a chute. Totally stressed me out! Many years later I’m now a partner - in Tax… 😊

Heard the story. They made the intern go out in the Chicago winter to use a plastic rule one uses During elementary school to measure the width and height of the gate on client site.

Some guys got drunk at a Pwc conference a few years ago and got into a fight in the hotel lobby and got fired.

Not a big 4 story, but when I was an intern at a mid market firm we had a conference at a center outside of the city. Couldn’t leave and nothing to do on campus besides go to the bar and drink. There were both US and Canadian interns. Last night there, some of the interns got hammered and did a US vs Canada flip cup game. But with the glasses from the bar (not plastic cups). Huge mess and broken glass. Pretty sure none of them got offers

At a national training conference, people were coming back to their hotels after a night of drinking and ran into an exp associate in the hotel lobby with only his boxers on…he was trying to get a new key for his room. Got locked out. Rumor spread that he was hooking up with someone and got kicked out without his clothes and keys. Everyone was talking about it. Turns out, he has issues with sleepwalking and a mini investigation happened to find out who was the source of these rumors. No one got in actual trouble but the poor associate left the firm within the year.

Advice from PwC fish needed.. I posted a week ago about an offer for an A1 “experienced associate” from PwC -team is digital assurance transparency. Even tho I thought that sounded off, I ended up accepting. My letter just said Associate @ 68k base. Now I have access to People Path & my job level says A2. So is PwC on a cohort model, or not? Is there anything I can do here? I pushed back hard on the A1 vs A2 thing b4 signing and the recruiter was adamant I would be an A1

I moved from B4 to industry accounting about 5 years ago. I currently work as a corporate accounting manager at a software company. I recently hired an big 4 audit senior right out of public and I’m struggling to get him up to speed. Does anyone have an example of reasonable vs unreasonable expectations for a senior accountant moving to industry after 2-3 years at B4 audit?

Hey guys, I'm thinking of going back to TAS after a stint in corporate but don't want to move to cities with TAS practices. Are there any mid-tier firms (GT/RSM type firms - I came from Big 4 TAS) that are hiring fully remote aside from traveling for management meetings/workpaper reviews.
