Future of Data analyst vs Data engineer payscale and growth?

I guess analysts are given more importance, as they are more connected to management than a data engineer.

Yeah, I’d say this is a fair statement.

Data Engineer anytime! (assuming you want to be in tech role)

You can easily switch jobs with the experience you get from DE.

On the other hand, Analyst role typically is more of a functional role, with little to less coding involved.

All the jobs with Data in it will have demand in the next 5 years to come. So not to worry about it.

But the question is - do you like coding? would you keep exploring ways on how to store and transform data?

Fun fact: various service companies are still running on legacy systems and are likely to move to cloud technologies. There is a huge scope for Data Engineering, but limited to ETL/ELT.
Not all companies use big data.

Let's talk more in comments!

It's not about what is hard to learn or what is hard to do.
In this case a persons job who works in factory pulling weights should be given most importance.
Analysing, interpretation, story and turning the output to help into actual revenue increase, could be very hard for someone who does only coding in different programming languages.
And yes coding can be nightmare for someone who doesn't do that.
but overall if you think about people working on these things in any organization, you can easily see that Analysts are always given more importance than a data engineer.

OP - Data engineer will get more money in the short term since the market will ALWAYS have a role for your skillset. But, if you aim to become a partner in a firm one day, then become an analyst. As an analyst, your growth path will involve becoming a domain expert, who is valued by clients and hence, can directly being business. This will give you a much stronger shot at becoming a partner. And partners literally MINT money

like

Data Analyst or Data Scientist is a functional role
on the other hand Data engineer is a technical role.

Data Engineers are in huge demand in Product companies whereas Data Scientist are sought after in service companies, for bsic reason that they have to interact with the client. For product companies, product is the most important stuff where Data Engineers fit into. There is no client interaction as such.

I hope you got your cue.

In most of the cases, data engineering job is to support the data scientists, analyst and BI developers to help them into their interpretation about the business. And reporting.
It has very minimum role in actual product making in any product company, unlike other tech stacks which are used to develop a product.

I would pick analyst if money is important.

A bit biased, I think analysts offer a lot but so do data engineers. I would base the decision more on what you like doing though

I feel like data engineers aren't as in demand as data analysts.

So I’ll give you guys some background, I have 2 offers from a startup as Data analyst CTC 17 and from another start up as Data engineer CTC 18. I have past experience of 2.5 Y as a data engineer. My heart says to go for data analyst field cause it involves more business decision making but my mind says data engineering has more money and can be more rewarding in future. Don’t know what to choose

Analyst always

How do I get out of this trap of php.

Should I just learn a language and add directly in cv or learn react and move fullstack?
