Got laid off in tech corp dev making 250-300 all in. Have an offer to join a fairly new family office investment team in PE buyouts but will be a fairly significant cash pay cut vs what I was making in tech corp dev. I’ve always been interested in doing investing. All things being equal, is there better upside to take the fam office to do PE (at a pay cut for now), or go do another corp dev job? 6-7 YOE

An agency I used to work at had another round of layoffs today bringing the total number of people who have lost their job to nearly 40. They then went on to post across social media today about the One Show awards they won. The lack of humanity in this industry is disgusting.

Anyone ever face this question in an interview - "Rate your skills on a scale of 1-10"- which was immediately followed by the interviewer firing off a bunch of different software programs and tasks. I waffled pretty hard and said 5 for most things. They probably ran down a list of 20 different items - the numbers felt completely meaningless by the end of it.

So I’m a person of color if south Asian decent. First generation and I have a lot to learn career wise but this I need immediate advice as I feel lost and confused and it’s impacting fo self esteem. i recently accepted a job at an agency that is very white. prior to 2020, in typical industry fashion, they were talking the diversity talk, had DEI committees, etc, but all white leadership and a huge turnover of POC talent.

2020–>now, it seems like they’re ready to walk the walk. they publicly published their numbers, are actively recruiting POCs, etc. but leadership is still white, as is the majority of the agency. sure, change doesn’t happen overnight... but should i stick it out or run?

Looking for objective thoughts and opinions. During and org restructuring, I was demoted even with high performance because I did not “fit” into the new org model. So I took a new role in the same company at my new lower level. I am a wok stream leader in a larger program. The program is a mess. I have asked several times to step up and get involved to help fix the mess because o am qualified from my previous experience but my manager and senior leaders have ignored me

So I am a black lady who has had much success at Deloitte. I work hard, always show up and am known as an expert at what I do. Recently our team added a new Analyst to the team. We will work on different projects but are functionally aligned to the OP. It irks me that the Analyst from day-1 has been about DEI and this when half of our team is POC. Her entire personality is “I am black, look at me”. Our OP has pretty much nailed DEI and I feel very comfortable to be myself here. Cont.
