FYI, if you’re flying to Hawaii on United in June, they cancelled all their east coast flights to Hawaii from EWR and IAD. UA never told me about this, I found out on a travel blog.

Dang

Why?

There was an issue with one of their jets where a piece of the airplane fell off during flight, so they grounded all those planes. UA thought they’d be back in service in time for June but it turns out that’s not the case. UA wants to deploy their wide bodied jets on international long hauls where business people are willing to pay higher fares for a FC ticket, vs Hawaii which is mostly leisure.

When I called UA to rebook (EWR-LAX-HNL) they said I’d have to pay a fare difference because EWR-LAX is a “premium” route and not the fare class I originally purchased (EWR-HNL was in United First, EWR-LAX is in United Business). I protested and they eventually put me on the new flight at no charge.

Lyft driver delayed picking me up 30 min, resulting in me canceling my ride and asking hotel to call me a “yellow taxi” to get to the airport because it was 5am and all ubers/lyfts were 15 min. Specifically said yellow. Hotel calls me a private lux SUV and the driver got out of the car to handshake the man who called and said hi (honestly money couldve been passed). I then get hit with a $180 ride. Marriott website says taxi should be $65. Should I complain or let it go?
