So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

There were dismissals today, however they were performance based. At least that is what the firm says. I can verify that the two let go in my office & LOB were definitely known low performers

Many accounting firms are currently laying off people. Last week I heard Crowe laid off a lot of people all week long. It’s only Tuesday, I hope it is not the beginning of a massive lay off week for RSM. Crowe started laying off people every day starting last Tuesday morning. This is very sad

1st year technology consultant here but can confirm that they are happening as I just got laid off today. At least for my practice, they stressed that they overhired and it wasn’t performance based but I believe it is a combination of both.
Chin up! You'll find something soon and be able to apply what you've learned. I've found a blank slate at a new company can do wonders for overcoming performance issues

We let go of associates that have low charge hours even pre-covid, which is unfair but I also agree why keep the excess fat....
