FYI - you should still get 401k match from your old company if you leave in first few months of new year. Heard differently on this app, but left B4 in Jan and still got employer match in Feb for 2019

Depends on your employer, terms of contract, and how they match. Most people get their match incrementally with each paycheck.

KPMG’s policy language requires that you be employed at the time of distribution in February for payout from the previous year.

Nope - that’s what I was told but I came from kpmg. HR told me that since I was employed with the firm for all of 2019, I would be eligible for the match despite leaving firm in January. Confirmed that the match posted on Feb 12

This varies by company. Many companies have moved to a match at/slightly after year end and some require you to be employed at the distribution date while some only require you to be employed through year end. Bottom line: do your research so you know what you are entitled to.

This depends on, and only on, your company’s 401k rules. The plan design is filed with ERISA and is immutable.

I’m seeing a lot of job req’s for Bain’s Advanced Analytics Group nationwide: does this group operate like a centralized Analytics COE to onsite strategy teams? (I.e. SM on my project stepped away on paternity leave. SM was the one who led partner discussions and most of the client meetings. We're a week from a client deadline. As a manager, I'm stepping but incredibly stress with the amount of moving parts. I don't have a strong rapport with the partner (Neither did the SM) to be open and transparent on how stressful I'm feeling without downgrading myself. I'm sick to the stomach and very anxious, stressed at the suddenness of the thrust. Help!

As an immigrant, I’m grateful for the opportunities afforded to me since moving to the USA. But, I must say, it still doesn’t feel like home after a decade. I still cannot wrap my mind around the gun culture, lack of universal healthcare and emphasis on education (critical thinking). I’m planning to leave in the coming year or so. COVID really made me realize that life is indeed short.

What is your average take home % of your total annual pay in NYC (not including pension contributions)? I'm awaiting an offer and will be coming from overseas so not very familiar with all the deductions (state tax, City tax, health insurance etc).

Does SEA have transition benefits? What is the process for initiating transition?

So EY announced yesterday in FAAS all hands that they aren’t following other firms with mid year raises, but did make a comment that last year they had historical raises and PBB and they expect that to be the case again this year. If you are at EY what percentage raise are you going to be expecting to stay with EY? Based on other B4 mid year raises I am thinking ~15% would be competitive if they aren’t going to do mid year raises. Thoughts?

Just downloaded this app and notice a lot of consultants making significantly over 100k. I’m mid 30s, just got my MBA a year ago and started a new job and still not over that six figure mark. Feeling a little behind in life- reading many 30 year olds are making 100k+. I have extensive experience in healthcare (pharmaceutical) in Tableau and SQL. What jobs or companies pay over six figures for Business Intelligence roles? Or should I be seeking different types of roles to make over 100k?

Maybe a noob Q - When does it make sense to take a pay cut when changing companies? I'm a Producer/PM trying to decide if I should jump to a smaller, lesser-known company (COLOR) for more money but fewer benefits than my current job, or with TeamOne for a slight pay cut but more benefits than my current job or COLOR. In reading through forums, the pattern seems to be getting pay raises in jumping between companies >.< What do you consider? Any insight or advice is beyond appreciated!!

Y’all. Am I being too uptight? My best friend is going through a breakup from her long term bf. Ive been trying my best to be there for her though we’re in different states (call her 2-3 a week and text daily). She told me she was considering seeing a guy she had been talking to from an app and I suggested against it. I said if you rly need to see him just go on a walk. She has a high libido, she ended up sleeping with him. The reason I said don’t sleep with him right away is bc (cont)
