I love my Garmin, I've got the vivoactive 3 with music, never looked back and I experience no fomo about any other watches
If fitness tracking is your primary use case, then the Garmin is more specialized to that. When using it you will more frequently home into contact with the sporty stuff, which might help get you get off your but. Apple watch is likely a better smart watch though, and better for work stuff.

I like it so far! Turned off notifications, gives me a reminder to move every hour when I’ve been sitting, I move a lot less a day than I previously thought so explains my weight gain, lasts about 6 days with battery life, tracks my sleep, and I get good data while working out.
I can’t say it’s drastically different than the fit bits I’ve owned but Fitbit never tracked my heart rate during weight lifting.
