What do people use for writing samples? I’m 5 years out of school and a job posting asked for a writing sample. My law school sample is 7 years old and unrelated to my area of practice, and I don’t think I can use anything from my current work due to the confidential nature. Do people just make up a writing topic and write about it?

What is a fair salary/hourly for a kitchen manager in Tampa FL? Small kitchen with 3 to 4 kitchen assistants. Kitchen is open 50 hours a week. Manager has full creative license and has no one above them in the chain of command outside of owners.

I'm the hiring mgr for designers in my org. I recently discovered pay band information given to me by the HR generalist I'm working with on hiring was outdated and updated bands had been released over the summer (prior to my hire date). The outdated information had led me to believe a prime candidate was out of range. Aside from incompetence, can anyone think of a reason why HR might have withheld information about the pay bands? Peeps I have H1b till Sep 2021 but my passport expired in Sep 2020 and along with it my I94. I had already renewed my passport back in Feb but haven’t left the country since. I’m on Opt visa currently and have to file for my Stem extension before next month. I have got an offer from an employer and about to join them in one week. My EAD card got lost recently unfortunately, will I still be able to join the company? What are the workarounds as I don’t have much time left on my Opt visa and have to file for my stem before next month.

My H1B max is Dec 2022. Really want to quit my job. But EY is doing GC with me. Part of me felt like I should try to find another job and see if they would start GC for me right the way. Then, I don’t want to quit coz I know I don’t want to go through the begging GC part.

H1-B transfer question

I recently accepted an offer to join a company (A) . They started my H1-B transfer and I received today the approval notice for the transfer.

However, I accepted last week a (better) offer at another company (B) and they will start soon my H1-B transfer.

I attend to tell company (A) on Monday that I will not be joining them. Will there be any issue with company B filing for a H1-B transfer soon?

How did you ask for green card upon receiving H1B? I am a H1B holder thinking about asking my employer to sponsor my green card (same employer who sponsored my H1B). Curious to hear how others with similar experience have managed such conversations!

My priority date is Dec 2012 in EB2. Is it worth waiting for US GC or apply and get Canadian PR in the next 6-12 months? Serious answers please.
