Geico has jacked up our auto and home insurance rates (800 combined) when there was no incident or change in the last 2-3 years. Is this normal or due to inflation? Guess it’s time for insurance shopping.

Same for Allstate. Assholes even tried to teach finance to me like inflation and recession.

funny

It's normal, insurance premium are going up and carrier might rework their exposure to specific locations/profile. Use any insurance comparison website or contact a local agent tell them you used to pay XX and expect the same. There is also a growing "insurtech" offering such as Lemonade or Hippo that could be a good alternative.

While it's often beneficial to combine multiple policy with one carrier, I would still recommend to look at splitting them given the current environment.

Good luck!

when mine was up for renewal in june it went up $45 per month. i called and they gave me similair crap about claims going up but when i said to cancel and ill look elesewhere they gave me a "good driver" discount back down to the same payment.

smart

Same here. Are you in Texas? I called to cancel and they said it’ll happen everywhere because of a state-wide increase in claims. They’re apparently just the first to raise. I switched to progressive

My new rate w geico was going to be up 50%. Switching to progressive, it went up around 13% instead

like

Same thing happened for my auto insurance
Need to check before renewing next time

Could be inflation tbh

Insurance is a pooled financial product and premiums will absolutely reflect inflation as well as general loss trend for that specific line of coverage.

Same happened to me at Farmers. I got a broker and cut my bull in half, by going with a regional carrier.

Oregon and insurance of Enumclaw is my new carrier.

like

Just be grateful you're not in Florida. Homeowners already went up 100% and now we just had Ian. Ugh, I'm dreading next year's renewal.

So I guess we’re NOT saving money by switching to Geico?

Not sure about others but I surely am not saving anything with them.

I am not going to out my firm but at our last partner meeting the managing partner said "We still have no official return to office policy. But we think that the tightening labor market will naturally cause many people to come back to the office and if [management committee] decides to implement a forced return to office, we think it will be extremely successful given the layoffs that have been announced in the last 6 months." So that is happening.

I'm frustrated. Everywhere I've worked I've gotten great reviews and even leadership awards. At my last company my boss was promoted to CAO. She hired a director but made her VP of HR at hire due to someone leaving. VP ran 6 HR directors out of the co (we all left without jobs lined up). After I left my team quit & the CAO was fired. Now they promoted this VP to a Sr VP. I gave so much, got nothing, yet she fell into SVP. I have a new Director level job. How do I break into the VP level?

What value add can an MBA guy bring?

With lot of IT folks in the same line of service, as competition, do you think Finance/IT consulting would be a good career option for an MBA graduate?
