FAANG 🐠: What are the major downsides of being at your companies? I hear a lot of great things about comp, WLB, benefits, and type of work but I’m curious if there are hidden cons that people don’t know about until they join.

Is it reasonable to be expected to spend 20-30 non-billable hours a month checking your paralegal’s work? (i.e. summarizing hundreds of records and bills). The partner said he “didn’t use paralegals” at his previous firm and eating the time is an “investment in yourself.” Is this common?

Any advice on if your specifically assigned practice area stalls due to factors you can’t control (e.g. rising interest rates causing borrowing to stop and your a loan documentation attorney)? Most other practice areas are full or don’t have additional work to dish out at the moment so I’m not sure what to do. I’m worried about not meeting billable requirements but don’t see much I can do.

I have a unique challenge right now in my class. I teach hand drafting in my class and the sanitizer and sprays they are using is making the tape not stick, has anyone to run into this and does anyone have any suggestions? We have found if we wipe the table down with multiple kinds of cleaner in soap and let it dry well that it will stick better but this is a huge time consumer as we transition between classes.

Question: I currently work as an inside sales account manager selling a wide portfolio of IT products. I’ve been recruited for a role that would be an outside sales role selling ONLY a software solution that Im able to sell at my current company (but usually don’t due to other options that we are compensated better off of.) The new role would have some overlap with current customers that I work closely with now (one being a VERY large client.) Would this violate a non-compete/solicitation?

I've been receiving a couple of calls from different recruiters regarding job opportunities. But, after they get a confirmation of my interest in that role, they don't update me with the application process.

What is the benefit of using or working with a recruiter to find a role vs just looking yourself?

Is 5 YOE considered entry level or associate? When I apply to associate level jobs I get nothing but rejections. And all the entry level jobs call for new grads or people with under 3 YOE.

I’m so confused. How do recruiters look at someone with 5 YOE? What level is that considered?
