Q: for FAANG recruiters, do candidates get a reject stamp after failing even at the later stages?
I advanced to the last stage at Facebook (Meta) around a year ago but failed on my last interview, a combination of not being familiar with the process and not having chemistry with the interviewer.
A friend who is a hiring manager recently recommended me and this time without even a HR call I received a straight up thanks but no thanks email.
Does this mean I’ve been permanently black listed?

I’m a white straight male I would never fill that out.
I am Hispanic. I ponder the question of ethnicity differently depending on how diverse the agency is. It’s a very sad truth.
Once I read one that said if I didn’t fill it out and took the job it would be filled out for me by an observer. I’m a POC but racially ambiguous so I didn’t trust the observer to get my ethnicity right.
Yeah, I’m a straight white male too. While I think our industry needs more diversity in all aspects (sex, race, gender, age, etc. ), I wonder if a recruiter sees White Male on my application, they’ll just toss it to the side.
Shouldn’t it be hire the best person for the job regardless of any of those factors? Should those voluntary questions even be on applications at this point?
Recruiters don’t know how to hire the best person for the job. They don’t even know who is good or bad.
Recruiters selects are who they PERCEIVE will be the best one. That’s where the prejudice sneaks in.
As far as recruiters consciously filtering out white people, the number of times that happens is an order of magnitude lower than the times recruiters subconsciously ignore/dismiss/reject non-white people.
