General management consulting is super interesting to me and I could see myself doing it as a career. My biggest gripe is the WLB at MBB. Would smaller middle market firms offer similarly interesting projects with more reasonable hours?

If you find Strategy interesting, the answer is WLB does not get better, and in many cases gets worse

helpful

Unless you go to industry

Basically, the better the average WLB, the less likely you are to have interesting projects on average. That's not to say that outliers don't exist, as there's surely someone working 45 h/wk at MBB doing cool work, and at a smaller firm doing uninteresting work with long hours.

At GT, WLB is pretty good, but maybe only half the work is interesting.

There are going to be some smaller firms with solid projects. The vast majority are going to be smaller, short-staffed, and have boring projects.

Def not here in T2 if that’s what you were asking ! lol

So I have completely lost interest in my area of practice mainly because I haven’t been exposed to many matters (our team is really slow) and I am the most junior in the team. So billable work is never constant. I feel like this has impacted my interest and stagnated my growth. I am thinking of moving into a different area of practice that I’m interested in. Has anyone ever done this? I’m actually depressed and I really hate being given work now. I have ADHD. Please advise

most of what I bring up in these meetings are logistical or prioritization concerns but I feel like my manager is expecting a lot more from me.

Without looking, I was recently offered a role at another company for about 30% more salary and 10x the amount of stock options, but I have only been at my current employer for less than a year and feel really guilty about leaving so soon into my tenure. My current employer might match salary, but there's no chance the options get matched.

I'm wondering if I should take the new position, even after less than a year at my company? I can't shake my guilt even though it seems like a no-brainer.
