Generalist/Project Manager with 5 YOE looking to exit to industry. If I have to do another pure play project manager role I’ll lose my mind. What’s the trick to getting a strategy & ops role in a T1 tech firm?

Exiting to industry and trying to exit to T1 tech firm are very different things. What do you actually want?

I use “T1” very loosely but I’d like to exit to a non-tech role at FAANG or companies like Snap, DoorDash, LinkedIn, etc. Program manager @ Amazon or Manager, Strategy & Ops @ DoorDash seem interesting but I’m not sure how I’d land a role like that with generalist/project manager experience only.

I can see so many ex MBB consultants in Meesho currently. Any idea why this is and if Meesho is a good exit from consulting? I have an interview scheduled but not really sure if I should go for it or not.

Interviewing at McKinsey from a big 4 consulting firm - currently an engagement manager interviewing for an engagement manager role on the partner track - comp at big 4 is currently $165k base, what’s a reasonable amount to ask for at mck? I got an Ivy League exec mba in 2020 as well, which hasn’t yet been reflected in my big 4 comp (we mostly didn’t do raises because of covid last year). Trying to understand how much higher mck might be willing to go?

@partners - I have two opportunities. One is to lead a group for a corporation (industry). The other is to join another consulting firm, doing the same work that I am doing now. While the comp will be better to stay in consulting and I do like the idea of becoming a partner one day, I am intrigued with the steady industry role... any advice?

Daddy D is throwing around some pretty crazy referral bonuses right now. If I can hit four referrals, I’ll split evenly among all four + myself. Up to $10k per person and at least $2.5k per person. Put it in escrow and everything. So if you’re looking to change firms, a new opportunity, etc. DM me. Can easily negotiate a nice sign on bonus, and my offer should sweeten the pot.

New SM at a firm and asked to lead a difficult project with abrasive client that 6+ SMs before me have cycled through and all been rolled off. I don’t have much of a choice being new to the firm… or do I? My thought was to sell my own role elsewhere (have lots of relationships) but the freight train has left the station & being on boarded to the challenging environment instead. Tips aside from - just do it & prove them all wrong? Can’t phone it in because I’m new. Any advice is welcomed

Got selected in the H1B lottery - is there still a chance I may not get the H1B visa?

I have minor generalized anxiety. Lately, I’ve had worse anxiety than normal, and as a result, I’m taking my second mental health day in a row. I didn’t tell my firm that it was a mental health day, I just told them I was sick with non-COVID symptoms. None of the partners I work for objected or said anything negative, but I’m now getting worried that they’re somehow going to find out it was just a mental health day instead of physical illness, and that it will somehow bite me in the ass . . .
