People are only able to rationalize a lot of things, not just the pandemic, in terms of its impact on them. With COVID the government, both federal and state, flips back and forth between speaking to that and speaking to societal benefit, which confuses people even moreso. So this is a helpful reminder but it is in opposition how many people are geared to think and rationalize their actions.

Honestly, who hasn't made tons of money through investments during the pandemic? If you already had money, you made a lot of money. Also, that quote is both dated and out of context. A decade ago we all mocked Asian countries where people wore masks regularly. We were too stupid to realize it was the ones with colds wearing them, not the ones trying to avoid colds

Who cares. It’s also true if I never drive again the risk to pedestrians of me hitting them in a crosswalk is reduced but I’m still going to drive. No one needs more fear based morality arguments. Live your life however you want and let others live theirs.

🤦 my gosh another one of these...Y’all with these masks and vaccine topic/debates.... When are we going to move on from this. ....how about we start nutrition and fitness threads to help with COVID...stuff that actually requires some real work and discipline...stuff that helps long term health.
Fitness, making better food choices and understanding of proper nutrition is addressing the underlying issue....mask or no mask, vaccine or no vaccine is a band aid solution to the real problem and a distraction in my “personal” opinion. Not here to start a debate though. Live by a different code. This is my personal philosophy. You do you. Others can chose to do what they want to do.

It doesn’t inconvenience me. It’s over for me. Had it, boosted, do the mask when they tell me to. I feel bad for others to be honest
I live outside the US so we never stopped wearing masks where I am. But my question is, when do we stop the masks? Because I honestly don’t know how we can wear these forever. I’m so over them and I don’t think that’s selfish of me to say.

In an individualistic society like the US that has time and time again proven its' selfishness I think asking people to consider others when wearing a mask is asking too much.
Guess you missed the story where the CDC copped to making all of that up, with regard to cloth masks.
Did you stop reading prior to "as effectively as other masks?" And wouldn't the solution, then, be to wear better masks, since that article says they are more effective?
Certain masks have been shown to provide protection for the wearer, although if you’re referring to the cloth masks typically worn that’s correct.
