Genuine question: do you think, all else equal, being attractive impacts your day to day and/or career growth in this industry?

I think generally yes, but I do think it’s a little different for women. People (men) are often patronizing to attractive women or the assumption is that you are stupid. You might get more attention but it’s not necessarily the right attention

100%, of course it does. If you put out an equal product to someone and socialize and can deliver a message the same way my opinion is that the better looking one will be favored. It’s just nature.

For reference, my past senior was attractive. The ladies at the client loved him, were always excited to see him, were always willing to help him with whatever question he had. We could tell a clear difference between responses he got and responses the rest of us got. Also since attractive people usually know they RE attractive, they have more confidence which goes a long way in public.

I feel that I’m a generally attractive woman (if put in one bucket or the other), and sometimes people seem more animated or interested to talk to me. But because I’m introverted, I feel like men are more sensitive to that and it counts against me because they feel slighted because I’m not acting in any way they can believe is flirtatious or giving them favorable attention so they can feel good about themselves

If an attractive person has a terrible attitude, then no- they won’t get away with more. It’s really all relative. If everything is equal (work rate/product) then the attractive person will get away with more- yes. However, not always is the case. I’d typically say that an attractive person knows this is the case and slacks off a bit more (from experience). From my POV, it’s rare you’d find someone more attractive who has a genuine hard working attitude, because — I’ve been around enough attractive people (high school / college) to know they will more often than not feel more privileged than the majority.

It’s been studied, and yeah, it does. I took economic classes from the author where he discussed his theories about beauty.

For sure! Im a decently attractive female and the dudes on my job (team & client) definitely treat me differently. However I will say I have had some encounters with females (typically from client side) that must be intimidated by my looks or something who purposely go out of their way to try and make me feel stupid or whatever (doesn’t work 😂)

There are three ways to get ahead in my opinion. You can do a good job. You can get lucky. Or you can look GOOD! 😜

Yeah. Had a senior manager (unattractive females) who interviewed all of our potential candidates. Unsurprisingly, all the attractive girls were knocked out and all the less attractive moved forward, despite some of the attractive girls having higher ratings, etc...
