I’m done with this contrived stress. I want to run off to Buenos Aires for a few months. I want to sit in a cafe, enjoy a nice cold Quilmes and people watch. I wonder how cheap travel will be to Buenos Aires after Covid. Their economy is f’d right now
Advice for networking during Covid?
Had a callback interview at DC big law about a week ago, a few hours before Covid-19 escalated things. Should I assume I did not get it or that it is on pause? Appropriate to reach out again?
Since the start of the pandemic, I have been fairly safe and really haven’t gone anywhere (I think I went to TJ Maxx once in a moment of weakness lol). My family on the other hand hasn’t taken any precautions and actually did contract COVID. They keep telling me I’m paranoid and need to start going out but with COVID being worse now than it was back in March, I rather just not. I just want them off my back and wish they would respect my decision to not expose myself like I respected them.
Long post alert. Also, confusing post alert haha. So, I'm going to be divorced in the next few months and have 2 kids who'll be with me. Ever since this situation has been finalized, I'm becoming very conscious of our spend & have been tight about it. Covid has helped. But I noticed that even my grocery store bills are pretty high...like a single run to Meijer is $125+. Costco is like $200 or so. We've always had fresh fruits, nuts liberally used in our house. Annoying how the hospitality industry cut corners for COVID precautions but now are still keeping those corners cut just due to it saving money. Think it'll ever return back to normal completely?
Anybody having difficulty getting medical experts to respond lately? Even in non-covid practice areas?
an old CD of mine is slowly turning into an Illuminati/coronavirus conspiracy theorist with each post on FB. Its sad to see but I can't stop refreshing to see what crazy thing he will post next.
Fish Friends, what are the foods and recipes that you've started adopting in the COVID world? I'll start with my super easy flatbread pizza, improvised due to laziness and a lack of yeast and baking materials available. 2 cups of flour and a half cup of water. Add a pinch of salt and a drizzle of olive oil and knead. Then you just roll it out as thin as possible and add whatever you want! Anything! Bacon? Onions? Peppers? Mozzarella? Chuck the whole thing in a 500F oven for like 18-22 min.
In 2009 the H1N1 swine flu (originating from the US) infected 61M people in the US it took 6 months before an emergency was declared. Stop freaking out about Coronavirus
This article is a good read in terms of how to handle the COVID-19 crisis: https://blog.shrm.org/blog/promoting-workplace-mental-health-in-the-age-of-covid-19
With COVID going on, has your company done a better job of connecting global teams together? If so, how?
People have been asking me for referrals post COVID and I want to help everyone but I also know that some people won’t be a great fit. Is anyone else facing this? Does it hurt to refer not as strong candidates? I am assuming they will just get rejected?
Where should I go out on my birthday? Turning 22 and missed the big 21 celebration because of COVID
I’m thinking of doing an all-inclusive vacay late November or early December. Probably Punta Cana or Jamaica. Has anyone been to these resorts lately? How is everything given COVID?
My utilization has been so low since COVID closed off the offices. Should I be worried? Should I reach out to my relationship/career coach? Change to another group/line of service??
Anyone been to Disneyland lately? Are there still long lines? My wife and I have been under a rock staying at home due to covid and having a newborn at home and being extra safe, but I wanted to take my wife to Disneyland for Halloween. Is it relatively covid safe there?
Got a job offer, signed the offer letter, resigned from my old job. My start date is 3/16. Now they’re saying they might have to push my start to 3/30 because of COVID-19. HELP!
Stop setting up forced work zoom happy hours outside of 9-5pm with anyone you didn’t drink with before this! Please for the love of god.
When updating your linked in profile, if you were working toward another degree (MBA, phd, etc) would/should you include that info?
How do you concentrate on work when personal issues get in the way? My fiancé recently told me that I don’t do anything worth appreciating in the midst of an argument about division of household labor. Although I normally do almost all of the housework and at least half the cooking, I have not done that in the past two weeks as I’ve been prepping for trial. I’m furious of course, but have other things I need to be concentrating on.
Would it look sus if I call in sick on a Friday?
I applied for a senior accounting role and received a take home assignment. What do company’s expect to see from a take home assignment documentation and technically?
I was asked to provide a writing sample after an interview today. All the memos I've written are client confidential nor do I have easy access to. Since I recently graduated, should I just use...
1st gre quant was mid 150s, but got 168 percentile in verbal. Took it again, got 160V and 163q. Should I submit both scores to MBA or should I take it again? Top 5 UG, slightly below average GPA
I don't know what the guys on my project eat for lunch, but they need to stop immediately. It smells like a dead body in the men's room every afternoon. I literally have to hold my breath peeing
Raise your hands if you value sleep over spending an extra +/- 30 minutes to get ready in the AM. Rock the natural look ladies (and gentlemen)!
Hi all, our company is looking for 2 HRBPs: 1 based in the states and 1 in Canada. Do you have any suggestions for postings other the the regular LinkedIn/ indeed?
Is the interview process to get into IBD harder or easier than top consulting firms like BCG/McKinsey/Bain? Where do the truly smart people work nowadays?
It seems to me that there is a big push to go Indy these days. What are the major benefits of going that route?
Went from a big firm to work for a smaller firm. The people in the smaller firm are protective of their work and are good by their work too. I no longer feel chaos or stress. I am treated with respect and my schedule is more normal. I am even working more billable hours than before, but it feels like a seamless experience. I don’t work then past 5pm or anything out of the ordinary for this time of the year. I am so grateful!
Trouble networking virtually; I started recently, 3 months ago. I am not sure how projects/internal moves work but I was wondering if anyone has advice on networking virtually? I am finding it tricky because I don't know anyone apart from my team & I can't view Talent Marketplace because I am on a billable project, not sure how long it will go. I enjoy my work and not looking to move just yet, I wanted to see what else is out there and looking for opportunities to network with more people.
Having a farewell zoom party after our project closed out tonight with people that range analyst - partner. Any fun zoom games to play?
