My mom just called to tell me that a $40K real estate investment her advisor put her in has been returning 12% the last 5 years and now the company just sold the property and she got $260K return. Also that she now has $100K more in her accounts than she did 10 years ago when she retired, despite traveling globally multiple times per year first class. I feel like an investment loser.

Pay off mortgage first or pay off student loans?
Background: I owe $320k on my mortgage at 3.375 interest rate. Monthly mortgage is $1800. I owe $170k on student loans (a mix of federal and private, have not yet refinanced). I make $200k annually but work long hours and am thinking of moving to easier but less-paid role.

I'm considering leaving my biglaw job for an entry-level government job. I'd be leaving at least 80 grand on the table for a better work/life balance. I also can't even get loan forgiveness because I refinanced. Am I crazy?

Do you ever feel like white people were brought up with certain values you wish we’d been raised with? I know gym culture is pretty new in India, but most of my coworkers are extremely body conscious and detail oriented around clothing quality, gymming, diet, lifestyle, social graces. I’m not sure how to reconcile it with how I was raised.

Brands don’t need to be aspirational. Some brands, sure, go be aspirational. But if you’re a bag of chips or a beverage, you should aim to be relatable.
