I am 100% sure your parents are Indian
You can always go back to the D or other firms. Start up is an acceptable reason to leave and boomerang back. Do it
Deloitte's 401k match is garbage anyway. Sounds like its equity vs bonus financially, so depends if you want to get out of consulting or not
Valuation of that stock?
This is not a money question. Figure out what you want to be when you grow up and do that.
Your dad is, no offense, incorrect about job stability mattering for happiness.
Is the offer really that good that you are willing to give up 401k match ?
Depends on valuation and what you think future outlook is
At D I think I spend 50-60% of time doing bullshit like making PPT, weekly reports - Iam not doing tech stuff - handling production codes, owning modules etc.. But D is stable employer...should I keep looking for a position with product companies or accept startup offer
D1 - I don't know though during interviews they said for series B they got valuation of 180 million but its volatile they also said that
And I may I have to spend extra on rent they are in peninsula and I am in South Bay, else spend +10hrs in commute. Plus side is they have catered lunch everyday and protein bars in the free pantry
Roll the dice, you can always boomerang back.
The real question is around your risk tolerance
Most peers and my on-off girlfriend, suggest me to go for it, but my own parents want me to stay with D, especially Dad he tells me job stability matters for happiness
Folks - Thank you for all suggestion I will be leaving D after 2 yrs here ..... made my mind over weekend... if I don't do it now, may be I will never do it... also, yes I belong to Indian family and I value my parents perspective a lot .. and very proud of them
