GF is turning 26 this year and won’t be on her parents health insurance after. Works for family business so no employer benefit option.

Has anyone gotten their gf/bf on their work health insurance?

Yes, just put a ring on it and then you can add her 😬

Have you lived together for more than 4-10 years? If so, it’s state and insurer dependent. If not, no dice.

I added my live in girlfriend to my PwC insurance before we got married. PwC allows domestic partners to be added. But remember, the employer paid portion of your insurance premiums is taxable income if you are not married ☝🏻

likesmart

The first paragraph does not compute. Her parents have insurance and are presumably the proprietors of the family business as well? What’s stopping her from striking out on her own under the same insurance product her parents currently have?

like

Fast-forwarding some here, but pretending to be married is called fraud

funny

I did back in the day, but that was before gay marriage was legalized. I think people on here are confused..or perhaps it’s different state by state. But the reason you were allowed to put a non-married partner on your insurance before was bc this rule eliminated discrimination against partners who could not legally get married; my bf was on my health insurance for 5 years (2008-2013 if I recall).

I started maxing my 401k from year 1 and I hope to have $5 million or more by the time I retire around 60. Wouldn’t it make sense to put all of my yearly $19,500 401k contribution to ROTH 401k instead of traditional 401k?

My reasoning is that I would pay 35% tax now and my remaining 65% would grow tax-free in ROTH 401k…. versus traditional 401k where I deposit 100% but every distribution will be taxed 35% assuming I make a lot in retirement.

Recently switched jobs and need advice on 401K.

1) I have both Roth and traditional 401K. Can't change traditional 401K to Traditional IRA as I backdoor Roth and it complicates things.
2) does it make sense to move Roth 401 to Roth IRA to save on fees / have more options?
3) what would you invest in?

FID 500 index (FXAIX): 58%,
FID Target 2055: 26%,
FID growth CO K6 (FGKFX): 12%,
FID bond - 4%
