Weird. I don’t know anyone else that’s been ghosted by a recruiter. It must be you
I wish you could rate recruiters. That would address some of this ghosting.
👆 on it. I mean, creatives are constantly judged by their performance yet we’re treated like shit by these recruiters. So maybe it’s time they experienced a little of our world. If you can rate professors in college or doctors everywhere, it’s about time you should be able to rate recruiters.
Recruiters and nyc brokers are some of the worst human beings on the planet.
how about recruiters who email YOU with interest and then ghost you after you reply. Or who youve interviewed with and they promise to follow up but don't?
ACD 2 is absolutely right. The recruiters do it because they aren't held accountable. What is the policy here on fishbowl for naming names?
ACD2, OH HELL YES! Someone needs to create this app/website pronto
For almost 2 years straight 72 would email me and ask if I was available then never respond. Then that same person would email me a month later, introduce themselves again, ask if I was available, then disappear. Literally for almost two years straight. Finally I saw one of the top cd’s, told him to give me work, was working there a week later.
Out of any recruiters I’ve ever talked to, Rafi Kugler is the best. I’ve never met him. But the best to communicate with period.
@SrCopy2 it’s not about control, it’s about respect and doing your job. As a creative, when you don’t reply to an email (internal or external), you feel the repercussions. They do it all the time and it doesn’t affect them. It’s their job as an external facing part of the agency to promptly respond to candidates and when possible respond to parties that show interest in the agency. Too many always seem to have excuses for everything yet I rarely see recruiters stay past 5pm to get their job done. This is why I NEVER go through recruiters. Always go through creative leadership to get your foot in the door or get a job.
Freelance creatives are viewed under a microscope by ECDs, AEs and Strategy. You don't even have to do something wrong to get let go w no notice, yet the cozy staff Creative Recruiters are sooooo lax about following up, or giving all the info when booking you for a job. It's like pulling teeth. I don't understand it.
Headhunters (recruiters) usually get back to me quick. It’s the other fellas. Also, industry peeps on linkedin—they rarely reply
Not alone at all
Just to clarify: These are brief emails. Nothing intense with more than 3 sentences lol
And I usually wait 5-7 days before following up. And I only follow up once or twice. That’s it
@ACD3 I feel your pain. Biggest pet peeve...
Recruiter: “Hi i came across your work and would love to talk about an opportunity.”
Me: “uhm...you ghosted me 3 times before. K byeee"
Same. It’s incredible how rude our society has become. Basic common courtesy is too much trouble for many people :(
I’ve been an internal creative recruiter and an external creative recruiter. Totally hear what everyone is saying here. I can explain “why”. Email me (I’ll try not to ghost you 😜)
2018 is the year that ghosting began, because it didn’t happen at all before this. It’s an entirely new practice that recruiters haven’t been getting shit for for years.
Especially true if you are older. Recruiters know they are expected to deliver low-healthcare-premium people who can be marked up to a senior rate even if they've only done a year or two of banner ads. Justice ghosted is justice denied!
OP, CD1 was for sure being facetious there. We all get it. Sucks. But we can't control them.
I agree it sucks. We just can't control what they do. That's their choice. Sucks of course.
