🎁 Gift giving advice needed: Joined a small growth stage company and given the low morale because of COVID etc., the CEO wants to buy gifts for the leadership team (5-8 folks). What’s a nice gift idea that you all recommend for Directors/VPs?

Budget?

like

TBD but a tad flexible. $50-$100/gift?

funny

Gift card to a fancy restaurants with enough $$ that employee can take significant other as well..

like

There are zoom wine tasting you can do so maybe a gift card to something like that for all the directors / vps to have a date night with their SO

More equity

funny

Yeaaaah, not gonna happen, lol

Wouldn’t it make more sense to give gifts to their reports to try and keep them motivated to deliver? The growth in the equity value should be worth more than a $50-$100 gift they can prob just buy themselves

Very thoughtful of your employer. Are you hiring? 😂

It was my idea 😂 but yes, very empathetic and compassionate CEO who was open to my suggestion.

customise some company swag set? like branded backpack, tee, travel set, card holder - sth unique with company logo printed helps morale, good stuff to post on linkedin too :p

Last thing I’d want right now is company swag tbh

I’m a 2nd year associate and I’ve been working at the same firm since I started. In a nutshell, I love the work (the practice area) but not the people very much (it’s just not a fit). I’ve been thinking of leaving for some time. I have an opening at another law firm, but my practice area would be different. Should I just wait for another opening in my area of preference? With Covid, openings are rare for entry level associates ...

It’s hard to understand COVID-19 rates of infection where I’m at or was, and the contracts was not inline with corporate ideals at least not in the IT sector. Their ideals was radical and the spread of harmful information on past events to prevent ethnicities to get vaccinated was alarming. It has highest infection rate in private sector. Don’t know death rates was strictly remote and put on non-sanctioned project NDA wasn’t signed and never knew until it came down the grapevine.

My partner and I are moving out of our condo building in NYC at month end, and the building management (not our landlord) has communicated to us that, on top of the 1K non-refundable fee and 1K security deposit to move out (stated in lease), they are also issuing a $1,250 "sanitization fee" for the public areas (hallways/elevators), since we happen to be moving out during COVID19. We feel this is taking advantage of tenants during this time and may not be legal. Any advice helps!

Question for moms. I’m getting married next year and have several close family members that will have babies ages 8-11 months old by then. What are some ways I can support the moms and make it an enjoyable experience for them? We have a separate room at the venue that I was thinking could be offered to the parents to use, or potentially hiring a babysitter for them (either at the venue or back at the hotel). I would love for the families to be able to come, as it is out of town.
