Definitely get a gift for the older sibling. They always get left out and ignored because everyone's so focused on the new baby.

Meal service gift card like uber eats, gift card to try different baby carriers (if that is an option ), night nurse, babysitting the older kid on a weekend morning, starbucks gift card, depending on the age - coloring books, crayons, or any other independent activity option for the older , diaper coupon , cleaning service gift card

Relationship to you, age difference between the kids and target price point?

Oh following, trying to figure this out too for a close family member .. they still have everything from their first born

Anyone else randomly get mad at something that happened to you as a kid? For example, I was in a meeting this afternoon and out of nowhere, I reminded myself of my Little League days when my coach embarrassed me in front of my team for being the first baseman who couldn’t afford a first baseman’s glove. I mean I was playing the field just fine with a Nomar Garciaparra glove that was a little too small for my hand 🤷‍♂️

All-my dad has been guilt tripping me into visiting him. He is 8 hours away driving without stopping. I am pregnant and am not traveling anywhere where I can’t drive non stop - not even seeing my in laws 90 minutes away. I know it sounds crazy but that is where I am. He half jokingly said I could wear Depends. Please tell me I’m not crazy and that it’s okay for me to not go and my dad should be at least somewhat understanding. We don’t have the best relationship.

Anyone try to teach your kid to read? Our 5yo has been home for the past year. So I am trying to get her started on “teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons” to get her ready for stuff she missed by not going to preschool. Struggling a bit coz I am an immigrant and never learnt this way either. Any video resources that will help me and my 5yo?

When is the earliest you’d suggest taking a pregnancy test? Took one and got a negative result 9 days post ovulation but have read you should wait at least 10-12 days post ovulation? If so - why do tests claim “6 days before missed period?” Tryna have a pre-busy season baby problems 😂! Thanks in advance!

Wife and I are going in with my BIL and SIL to pay for a retirement/40th anniversary/MIL's 60th birthday trip to an island for my parents in law when they retire next year. They think we forgot about all of those events and are going to lose it when we give the gift at Christmas. Father in law has had a lot of frustration, getting included in two mass layoffs in two years and taking two straight 40% pay cuts at the end of his career. We're so excited to give them something to look forward to.

Do you buy gifts for your significant others family on Christmas? When In the relationship did that start? I’m asking cause I don’t celebrate Christmas but don’t wanna be rude. We’ve been together for awhile and his family never buys me anything so I never thought much about it except this year his mother is getting me a wallet and now I feel weird.

Hi moms. I’m 8 weeks pregnant. My husband told his parents about it today. They reacted in the worst possible way! They asked what I was thinking and that he should talk to me about getting the baby aborted!! This baby wasn’t unplanned in any way. We really wanted a second child and glad that it happened without needing any interventions. I’m really mad right now! And just their words are making me cry! I expect 0 help from them to start with. But don’t need this negativity right now.

I found out today that my employer doesn’t offer any paid parental leave (maternity or paternity). This isn’t a major issue now, but my wife and I are planning on trying in a year or so from now. How many other employers don’t offer any paid leave at all? Coming from public accounting this seemed outrageous to me, but curious to see what other companies are like.

How much were your total out of pocket costs to deliver a baby? Assuming no complications as I know with complications it can vary quite a bit. Want to compare what perks FAANG vs Big4 vs other firms have.

My wife is pregnant. Do the general courtesies of telling your manager/work beginning of 3rd trimester still apply during covid/work from home? Her industry has been hit hard and her job has been doing furloughs and layoffs. We can get pretty far without telling due to WFH but don’t want to put her boss in a bad position either.
