Money is most functional in college

Echo, fitbits, spinning or other exercise subscriptions, instant pot

I’m getting my dad a $100 e-gift card from Amazon. He loves Amazon and he can get whatever he wants! For my mom, I’m buying her an aromatherapy diffuser from Homemedics ($40) with a set of Tisserand essential oils and a Sephora gift card.

Currently in college - do not buy them an echo. It does connect to eduroam. So if they live on campus, they won’t be able to use it.

like

Honestly get them a giftcard to a restaurant in their area thats somewhat decent. Eating in dining halls and cooking lackluster meals makes you value a nice meal so much more.

like

Second the point about $ being awesome in college. Less “cool” but super functional gift is a kickstart to the Roth IRA - my dad did that for me at 19 and I’m grateful

Is sibling male or female?

Even a Target or grocery gift card would probably make them so happy :)

23 and Me is my go to gift for grown ups this year

Shop PwC. Some good gifts there sure to please everyone

I’ve been having trouble trying to land a job in tech. I’m not sure what I wanna do and what roles to look for. Product management seems really interesting and good fit to me. I have program management experience and finishing my masters but all roles I look for need 3-5 years exp. Does anyone have any tips and advice for someone trying to break in? Career paths they recommend. Things they wish they did differently knowing what they know now? Anything is appreciated. Kinda feel lost.

I am considering switching to tech sales. Currently I am in an Account Executive type role for a Recruiting company. Was curious to know more about BDR/SDR KPI expectations and if it would be better to start a career with a large company or mid sized company within the space.

I was thinking HR software would be the logical transition for me but I would also be interested in selling Sales Intelligence software.

Any insight would be appreciated!

consultant keeps making spelling mistakes on every document, including when they just need to copy and paste text directly from email instructions. when they send me work they now say “let me know if you find any spelling errors” - and while i always check work because it’s a team effort, i feel like these careless mistakes could be avoided. english isn’t their first language (nor mine), is it insensitive to ask them to double check their work? or is there any other way to handle this?

Wanted to share a revelation with my fellow high-stress fishies. I used to take work so seriously that I’d toil late hours into the night and miss out on valuable time living life. I almost took medical leave my health was deteriorating from stress! Now that I have a spouse in medicine, I hear about his work with pediatric cancer patients every day and it REALLY puts things into perspective. Just a reminder to show up, do good, and don’t sweat the small stuff. We aren’t that important 😉

Unpopular confession that I may get dragged for: I made the switch from WITCH to a big4 and I miss it. I don’t feel like anyone here cares about my development, I miss my old manager and counselor, I hate the work I’ve been staffed on because it was work that we used to send offshore. I can’t even join business development because I’m so busy with all this other bs work that has no end in sight (long term staffing). I’m just tired. Thanks for coming to my whining session.

Hi Fishes,

Need some inputs Thanks in advance.

I have total 13 YoE 11 of which are in tech consulting (Non Big 4)

I have an offer from EY and they have indicated base pay as 145K for senior consultant position.
I feel it's low. Can you please suggest how much should be fair base compensation for this role?
