Why do people at MBB go and get their MBAs and return to MBB, are you not able to get promoted without one?

At a financial services firm as an engineer with 2 yoe and 1 promotion, willing to move into consulting. 330+ gre and approx. 3.7 gpa - which schools to consider?

Shocking reality: your GPA and test scores don't make you special.

The reality is that there will be more qualified people applying to HBS or any other top Business schools than they have spots. If you aggregate the number of people from MBB/ banking/Tech/ Military that apply to these firms, I would argue that’s well north of the 50% of these applicants. I can also assume that the people from these backgrounds are likely to have north of a 3.5 GPA due to the selectivity of these careers.

Is it ok if I change my job mid 2023 if I want to apply for an MBA in fall 2023 ? I want to change my firm because of the pay, but I would get decent recommendation letters from here I think.
My current firm also does not sponsor MBAs.

Help! I’m a R2 applicant and just got the promotion that I was expecting in December but was delayed due to Covid. How do I inform AdComs? Do I inform AdComs? Stacy Blackman blog post says it wouldn’t change anything but I feel like that can’t be right... For context if helpful, my promotion is accelerated/ahead of schedule by 1-2 years.

I need help making up my mind on where to attend.

So I have two offers on the table : Tuck vs Yale SOM. I am getting 40k scholarship from Tuck and nothing from Yale.

I'm planning on going into consulting afterwards and am not sure what school to attend. I know Tuck's group oriented teaching is slightly more geared towards consulting.

What has been making me hesitate is the global presence of what Yale has in its name.

Would you say Yale has almost equal chance of getting into MBB as Tuck?

Is there a right place to list undergraduate job experiences? I know work experience isn't right, but activities doesn't feel right either. Asking because working was a huge part of my undergrad (multiple jobs totaling ~25 hours/ week) I feel like leaving that out is a big gap in my story.

What GMAT score should I aim for? 3.5 GPA in engineering from a non-ivy (Northwestern, Johns Hopkins, Duke), Hispanic, female. YOE 3 looking to switch out of consulting.

How important are “events” when applying to schools? Thinking things like info sessions, campus visits, etc. Do they help your odds of being accepted?
