I come into the Bain office with wet hair every day (it's always dry by 9:30ish)... Have been here >3 years and no-one has ever implied I'm any less professional for doing that. I shower in the morning and would rather not invest 30 mins blow drying it bc people like PWC1 think it's #unacceptable - I have better ways to spend my time ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Macho male here. Who gives a f**k. Just do good work. Wet hair bun fine. Nerdy male analyst fine. Sex-craved associate who meets tinder dates in the hotel restaurant and expenses a meal to impress ok too. Lady on team who spends too much time trying to look like a model every day fine. Just find me client impact. Find me the next idea supported by data that gets the client $XX millions of value. Who gives a fuck if your hair is wet
Acceptable
Totally unacceptable. It appears lazy and like you don't care. Communicate that you care about yourself and by extension your work and client.
Know what? I probably wouldn't have. At Bain I'm trusted as a smart, professional adult who'll deliver on their work, impress clients and be a great team member. No-one feels like I'm gong to let the company down on a professionalism front because of outdated ideas around women spending hours and many $$$ dressing themselves up for work (ie there are plenty of women who don't wear makeup to the office, it's not uncommon to wear jeans on days with no client meetings). If that modicum of respect for me as an individual wouldn't be extended to me at PWC, I expect I would have quit pretty quickly there.
I dunno... if you think that's a problem, I guess I found the right firm to work for.
@EY2 You're comparing a baseball hat to temporary wet hair? Lol 😂 Maybe I should stoop to your level and call out every guy (there's a lot) with a bad haircut because that means he's "lazy and don't care".
Nope
Not ideal, but sometimes hotel hair dryers are junk. If it's up in a bun, I think they're a-ok.
Yeah there are so many actually important communication issues––this just isn't one of them. Who cares?
Sexy
Wow I had no idea people feel strongly about this. What's wrong with wet hair if it's combed? It will dry in an hour or two anyway.
On my last project I went into the client with wet hair pretty frequently. We were averaging like 2 am nights - I wasn't going to get up a second earlier than I had to in order to blow dry my hair for 10 min with the shitty hotel dryer. I either just left it down or put it into a loose braid - don't think anyone cared
Some of these responses are just ridiculous...if you shower in the morning and let your hair dry naturally so be it!
Leaving wet hair down I would almost be equivalent to a guy coming into the office with uncombed hair...
Pet peeve. Unacceptable
Figures all D people are okay with this. One of your consultants I'm working with right now wears a baseball hat in the office. Clearly different standards of acceptable professional appearance over there.
Relax dude. It was a joke.
I've done it twice. I had my hair up in a bun; my morning routine was thrown off and I forgot to blow dry my hair.
Haha yeah, E2. Definitely makes sense to be judgmental of 235,000 employees based on like three people here. Dick.
Can guys come in without shaving now??? 🎅🎅🎅
