Taking PTO today. Manager texted me to join a call and sent a request asking for 5 slides to be created before noon Monday (it’s now 7:30pm Friday). This task will take a day. Suck it up or push back?

Received an offer 5k less than my current comp. I’m at a point where I really want to move and the new position seems interesting and something I look forward to doing. The vacation policy is only 10 days to start and increases after 5 years. I am coming from a 25- vacation days. Is vacation something I can negotiate at this stage if salary is fixed? I’m going to try to see if they can atleast match my comp as well.

Any moms here who took leave before he baby was due in addition to the short term disability? I know we get two weeks STD before the expected due date but I am wondering if I can possibly take more time off before the baby is born as needed.

Salam all! Wanted to ask how you schedule your PTOs around Eid + Ramadan. Especially any of you who have flex time off; would you WFH the entirety of Ramadan? Would you go on PTO all of Ramadan?

Would you ask for more in salary, with in reason, if a company provides unlimited PTO? Before you answer, this is my reason for why I would. Most companies that offer a set amount of days will pay out for PTO days that were not taken if you decided to leave a company, adding on to the final paycheck. Companies that offer unlimited PTO sometime save money on employees that do not take more that 20 PTO days within a year. Also they do not need to payout for time accrued since unlimited PTO rule.

Almost done with the lateral hiring process. Assuming I get an offer, how acceptable would it be to try asking to push back the start date a couple months? I’m getting married in August and it would work out perfectly to start at the new firm shortly thereafter. I don’t want to take time off immediately. Anyone have experience with this?
