If you are staying agency side, no. If you want to go to a big client and have little agency experience, yes. If you want to go to start up or smaller client, no. If you have 15+ years of agency experience and want to go to a big client, no
Following since I have one and I think most Agencies don't care haha
Depends how good your connections are.
Not at all, but you need to demonstrate an ability to drive growth and have ideas about how to do that in our every changing environment. Challenge yourself to keep learning no matter what. But an MBA is a waste with a horrible ROI.
I have mine and it’s not helping agency side, which I didn’t think it would. (Long story short: I was in a career path I hated (bookkeeping UGH GROSS HORRIBLE) and saw grad school as my way out). If I ever choose to go client side, it will come in handy. Don’t get one for the sake of getting one though
SAM1 3 years so i still have a lot to learn
@OP unless you want to go client side right meow, save your pennies (and go on vacation)
You do not need to be in debt to study business on your own. An MBA doesnt make you smart.
Definitely for client side.
EVP1 you don’t think I should have it in my back pocket with how the agency biz is being turned upside down? The more clients bring work in-house, the less account people will be needed and more brand managers will emerge.
Unless you don’t think this will happen in our lifetime?
@OP how many years of experience do you have? MBAs are $$$$, and might not be necessary for you if you’ve gained enough relevant experience and knowledge
Only for client side
Go work on business development at your agency. Great way to gain experience and grow your business resume and credentials without a MBA.
You’ll grow a network comprised of people who don’t ALL work in advertising and consulting for a different perspective. You’ll get a pay bump at your next gig when you graduate and a safety net. You can do it part time. Agencies don’t care, but to be a CEO, even at an agency, you need to understand more about business than marketing.
