I enjoy my role, but the new company seems to have better career progression opportunities. Do I just give notice and expect them to attempt to retain, or do I go in asking to more comp to stay?

Little context: I was an ED student, full time paralegal/clerk throughout my law school experience, and a single mother. I did not take advantage of the law school extracurriculars and missed out on clerk application deadlines my final year (2020). Would it benefit me to take a pay cut as a transactional clerk by about $20k to work as a clerk for a year then re-enter firm life? I’m transactional and enjoy that line of work.

Reading through some possible interview questions for FAANG. One of the ones I've seen on Glassdoor are to design a basic architecture structure for something like Netflix or Twitter or Spotify. I've been researching online using AWS or GCP (still learning all the moving parts of architecture). Any advice on how the setup would be? I'm assuming you'd start with some Load Balancers. I am terrible at withholding salary information from recruiters. Yesterday a recruiter gave the line “I would hate for us to get to the end of the interview process only for it to turn out that we couldn’t give the salary you would need” so I panicked and threw out a number that was thirty percent higher than my current pay. He then told me the salary range which was way higher! Do you really just firmly repeat “I need to learn more about the team and benefits before I can assign a number?”

After 2 years of a pandemic and working independently for many years, I am not feeling interviews AT ALL. There are points in the interview where I want to just say "Look! Either hire me or don't".

How can I get over this feeling? I'm over the whole "stand in the line of fire to prove how good I am" bs. Any recommendations for getting over this or possible industries to pivot into to avoid bs interview processes and ghosting?

I've applied and networked for my dream job and didn't get an interview this time. Also dissatisfied with compensation and some of the responsibilities at my current job but have a lot of opportunity to learn. I was upfront that I was not looking but because he was persistent and this could be something I’m interested in for the future, I had a sit down with him. At the end, he said the ball was in my court and he would love for me to go through a formal interview. The firm seems great, but my current position is 100% remote and fits perfectly into my schedule. Do I interview even though I wouldn’t consider changing until next year?!

I have an interview next week and want to vet the new law firm with questions to determine if there’s a good work-life balance, respect for how work is delegated (i.e., attorneys are not routinely asked to do obvious paralegal work), and what overall systems/structures are in place to make it a functional/successful environment. What sorts of questions do you think would get this info and also cut through the usual bs of “we’re a family here” when in reality no one talks to each other?
