This^. Ignore all comments with percentages— they’re all great. I picked the vaccine I could get soonest. It’s just a bonus that my immediately family had little to no side effects with the one I’m getting since I hope for the same experience, but I would have picked whichever alternative I could get soonest and you should, too OP!
Pfizer but not opposed to Moderna. Pfizer has a stronger history and track record of making drugs. Moderna is relatively much newer and inexperienced. However, I trust both companies for this vaccine.

One shot j&j.
Signed up for J&J (my preference) and got it.
There’s an interesting write up talking about how it’s the best possible hedge, cause you’re not unprotected (no vax) but you also have essentially all the Moderna/Pfizer benefits (cause a majority of people have this one and it means you indirectly benefit from it) BUT if there is a strain that only J&J stops you also have direct protection there.
Regardless, I just wanted J&J because the method used to create it was already proven safe and hospitalization and death = 0%

Thanks for all your inputs!! I booked an appointment for the Pfizer!
Pfizer less side effects from people I know who got it. I’m getting my first dose Saturday
Everyone I know has had a strong reaction to Pfizer, so go figure. My wife was sick in bed for two days after her Pfizer jab. Moderna was built to activate the mRNA platform. Modern is the one I want, given it is easy to make and receive a booster that works with my existing jab. Just mho
Oh no, I’m sorry for your wife’s experience. My sister and I both have pre-existing conditions and took the Pfizer shot. Other than a sore arm, we experienced no side effects from either dose.
I didn’t have a choice and got Pfizer, same for my husband and he got moderna (well- I knew it was moderna when I booked the apt). In the U.K. everyone I know had AZ and they are absolutely smashing it right now. So I probably would have chosen Pfizer due to the incrementally better data but really.. they are all good!
They are down to 10 deaths a day. By population that would be.. 50-60 deaths in the states?
Pfizer, and that’s what I got. It has a tiny bit higher efficacy rate than Moderna (95% vs 94%) and side effects are supposedly way less. (I had none.) J&J has a much lower efficacy rate (72%.)
Huge 1 is right. Pfizer is the best vaccine currently available. It’s 90% effective against the South African strain, whereas J&J is in the 60% range. Moderna is a close second (they’re almost identical vaccines), but tends to carry higher side effects.

Between these two vaccines? It's a coin toss. It will make no material difference to your experience.
The only true benefit i could think of is that Pfizer is 21 days between shots and Moderna is 28. So with Pfizer you’re done with the whole process earlier.

I wanted to get the J&J, but there weren't any left available when I went in. I got the Pfizer first shot and didn't have any issues. I go to get my second dose in the morning.
